AOL seems like a pretty damaged brand to still be the biggest for a state, yea it has name recognition but it has been a mess for over a decade, plus they moved their headquarters to NY. Capital One is the only other one in Virginia I can think of off hand though.

McDonalds is Illinois-based now however, not California...so they wouldn't trump Apple.

Found this new update from the original blog that posted it...make much more sense. Though I don't think you can count Conoco for Oklahoma anymore.

Sonic makes more sence for us. Neither Conico or Philips have been in Oklahoma for a while

Disney World is a much better fit for Florida. I didn't realize McDonalds was Illinois based either. For whatever reason, I thought is Cali

I was in a Home Depot in Atlanta (metro, as Atlanta proper is quite small) and came across a fellow shopper wearing an Eskimo Joe shirt. Being an exiled OU/OSU alum Okie I quickly started a conversation. It seems the man had never heard of the store and had been given the shirt by his daughter who told him the shirt brand was famous. There are Hobby Lobby stores around every corner here and are thought off as a better choice than Michael's. Do you remember Joe shirt gaining popularity when shown in a National Geographic magazine ... and why? The day of "the popular" t-shirts has passed it high-water mark.

2nd most popular shirt lol what does that even mean? Granted, every OSU fan I know owns probably 30-40 of them. Silly pokes.
Sonic is by far the greatest recognizable brand from Oklahoma and its not even close.

Disney World is a reach for Florida since Disney is still HQ'd in California.

Mmhmm. Agree with that. I don't really see how it is all that difficult to come up with these. Pick the criteria and stick with it IMO.

Its a big enough name that Disney, itself, works very hard to maintain the distinction between DisneyLAND in California and Disney WORLD in Florida. I'd argue that WDW is one of the most recognizable corporate-associated acronyms out there, and I don't know how you'd associate that with anything but Florida, nor what venture coming out of Florida would be any bigger outside of orange juice

I was in a bar in Denver a few months ago and saw a lady with an Eskimo Joe's shirt. I got excited and said "hey...Okies!" And then I realized she was standing next to my IT guy. They were on a family ski trip.

Staples is a pretty well known brand.

When I or anyone else I talk to about Florida, Disney World is almost sure to come up. Not Hooters lol, I didn't even know Hooters was from Florida

Man, I'd go with Burger King for Florida, but that's just me.

Wasn't the first Sonic in Stillwater, or am I wrong on that?

Yes and no. It first opened in Shawnee under a different name and then expanded. They had to change the name eventually, but Stillwater was the first one rebranded as Sonic

Started as Top Hat. Snowman is correct on the way it went down.

If you eat at Eskimo Joe's you end up feeling unimpressed with everything and wondering, why didn't I eat somewhere else in Stillwater, like the Texas Roadhouse? Especially, if the Eskimo Joe's waitress had a big herpes sore on her lip.

Didn't Eskimo Joe's close their Penn Square store?

Most Sooner folks I know would be rather ambivalent towards anything which happened in Stillwater as in... "What? they have a football team?" In fact, most Sooner fans I know don't care one bit about Stillwater, but if they were there wouldn't be against dining at Eskimo Joe's. Most Sooner fans I know care about Texas and count on the OSU game as a given. Most would say your complex with Stillwater and their football team is very "aggy."

The food is halfway decent and it's one of the lunch places I'll hit up occasionally. That said, Steak & Catfish (while it's still with us) and that BBQ restaurant off the I-35 exit on the way to Stilly are both superior choices in my humble opinion.

Of course if you're wanting a coldbeer and a burger of some sort on any given day, Eskimo Joe's is a fine place to go regardless of what football team you care about.
