I have been to the bar each of the last 2 weekends, I really enjoy the place. I was simply stating the rules and violation, not trying to get them busted. I just don't understand why they didn't properly zone in the first place. With it being south of the railroad tracks, I believe they could have fallen under the bricktown overlay for ABC-3 licensing.

I just don't see the point in risking a business that they have worked hard to build over a miniscule paperwork issue. Worst case scenario is they had to file for an ABC overlay with the planning commission and have it approved by city council.

Sid posted this cheery pic the other day on another thread:

Which got me to wondering.... I remember some months back when the place was being renovated, there was a lot of concern about the rather grungy appearance of the site.

Has this been all cleaned up? I mean, it all looks rather nice in that photo.

From the looks of that photo, they could really use a bike rack.

The issues were with the back of the building, a tacked-on addition and the rooftop, which can be easily seen when walking across the bridge from Deep Deuce.

And no, they haven't been addressed as of yet.

Went here last night. Fantastic place. Talking to the bartender, I was really surprised by how small their staff is (2 people + 1 extra help)

    2+1 = 3, Sid ;-)

I was there from like 10 to 12, sitting out on the patio cause holy moly it was a beautiful night.

What in the world is that contraption they have in the corner of the patio area?

I just noticed in the rendering at the top of this article that there's another Skinny Slim's sign on the east of of this establishment. Are the owners still planning for this to be added?

Yeah, they have 3 + 1 Sunday helper. That's what I meant. Tara, Danielle, and Airon(Owner) are the regular workers. Brian, who works Sunday, actually pulled his last shift this last Sunday.

If you are in again and see a skinny guy with a grey cap, say hi. Cheers.
Well damn, I wish I had known!

    Oh, ok.

Judging by Will's photos, it doesn't look bad to me. Although the bridge view of the AC unit is not aesthetic splendor.

Seems like that would be easy enough to camouflage that rooftop though. Just tack on a series of two-by-fours (like rafters) and then put some water proof meshing across that.

You gotta give 'em credit for managing to pack a lot of activity into this tiny building.

Deep Deuce to Bricktown: Dangerous crossing? | News OK

Since opening earlier this year, Skinny Slims, 201 E Main, has turned into a favorite hangout for downtown workers and residents. The pub has no dedicated parking, but that's all right — many of the customers are walking from nearby Deep Deuce and offices in the Central Business District.
Downtown is changing, and the pedestrian environment is taking root. With that change, a great dialogue, and education, must follow — even if it takes place over drinks at Skinny Slims.

I've felt that way more times than I can recall, though it's not always age related.
