Oh sure... now everyone wants to take a pic of the Aloft, now that it's the "in" thing to do...
Thanks Lazio!
Thanks for the video Will.
As Doug said, it does a great job of visually connecting all the elements of DD and Bricktown -- especially the new developments. That whole area is just sparking.
Question for structural engineers: it appears that the Aloft is a fortified bunker. Would it make a safe refuge for Deep Deuce residents in the event of a large tornado?
Steve said he expects Aloft to at least be partially done by Fall.
You'd be much better off in Aloft during a tornado than the stick built apartments that surround it. At the very least you'd want to be in levels parking garage or in an apt on the NE side of the parking garage. Basically reinforced concrete structures are good at holding up to high wind speeds.
Also, just judging by the pictures, it looks like they should be able to be open in the fall sometime. Most of the remaining work is interior stuff so it shouldn't take all tha long.
Thanks Praedura, but I have quite the historical perspective of the downtown development captured in my pictures on Flickr ... check out the progress there. I appreciate it Spartan, please let me know if I can get pictures of anything else downtown. Also, in the right upper quarter of the picture you can see the lots in previous discussions regarding the development next to The Hill.
Some of these latest pictures and Will's video help with perspective on the size of this project, but only helps. Really you have to actually see it up-close and personal to realize just how big a beast of a building this is. Beautiful.
Forgot about Aloft. This is from the West side.

Restaurant space still available? Hmmmm. Too bad Louie's is on Walker...I think something like that would be a good fit in this space.
I agree it works well in Midtown. Not a hater, per se. It's just that there are dozens of them everywhere: Yukon, Meridian, Hefner, Midtown, Western, et. al. Do we really need another Louie's? How would you rate their food / ambiance on a scale of 1-10? It's fine for what it is but another Louie's would not add value to this cool development.
The Midtown Deli was way better.
Wait, did you say good beer deals? I have never been so ripped off for a beer in my life as when I get dragged to Louie's. I hate paying $5-7 for a beer whenever I come back from Ohio where a good craft beer at a restaurant or bar is normally $3.
Midtown Deli had this great bacon cheddar and pulled pork 'wich on rye bread that I always got, and if I remember right it came with the same oven-baked soft potato chips you can get at Bubba's BBQ.
It appears that the developer is none too happy with a contractor over this project.

The developer of the Aloft hotel in Deep Deuce is suing a Tulsa contractor alleging months of delays and damages exceeding $1 million during the fabrication and installation of concrete panels.
New Century Investments, led by Jim Thompson, alleges in the suit filed in Oklahoma County District Court that Tulsa Dynaspan started the job with “inadequate” manpower and equipment. The suit also alleges that when Dynaspan's delays caused a steel contractor to drop from the job, Dynaspan promised to cover the additional work.
Instead, New Century alleges Dynaspan submitted an invoice for final payment without completing its own work or starting steel erection. The suit also alleges Dynaspan changed field superintendents on the job five times before abandoning the site when New Century withheld final payment of $149,450.
