There is another site dedicated to Dixie Square Mall that has a whole lot more information and pictures over the years of it than Dead Malls.

It's good the project is led by a man who already has experience in doing what he wants to do.

How come they just don't call it Plaza Mayor? It would have a similar name as La Gran Plaza.
The Spanglish sounds silly when you include Crossroads like its a proper noun.

    Highlights from that Oklahoman article:

This month, 20 new leases have been signed with local tenants, including restaurants, gift shops and beauty salons. Negotiations are continuing to secure major tenants such as a department store, grocery retailer, entertainment venue and clinical service
Plans also include turning the former Montgomery Ward into an entertainment venue like a nightclub. Adjacent to it, mall owners want to build a rodeo arena capable of hosting national competitions that can also be used as a concert venue; that project is expected to be built over three to five years
The 3-story anchor formerly occupied by Dillard's will be converted to a bazaar, similar to a flea market

I agree, but I suspect it's because at the end of the day most people are going to still call it Crossroads.

I hate to say it but reading about the changes makes me sad because I had great memories of that mall

I am glad that they will make it into a useable space since it has been dead for years so it is overdue though!

I had to laugh at that since I love The Wizard of Oz! Well done!

I remember driving by the one in Fort Worth when it was vacant and since the transformation to a Hispanic oriented center it looks like it has thrived. I think this will be a good thing for Crossroads and that population won't be as bothered by a little more difficultly in access than the general population seems to be since it will be a place of their own.

I happened to drive by this today on my way to Austin. Pretty interesting, but the whole area looked to be very Hispanic themed.

It used to not be when that area was mostly vacant.

The inner south side of OKC used to be largely vacant/abandoned/derelict properties before waves of Hispanic immigration re-populated these neighborhoods (granted it was a "slow" transition over the 90s and early 2000s and not just a wave).

My grandparents who live in the Western Heights neighborhood around SW 44th/Walker (right behind Capitol Hill HS) were initially very anti-Hispanic and over time have become very pro-Hispanic. It's a really amazing process were the assimilation machine in these inner city neighborhoods are supercharged as all parties involved realize tangible benefits as a result of diversity. My grandparents will be the first to tell you, to use their language, "that the Hispanics are good people that don't really bother anyone who have mostly taken over boarded up houses."

Same can be said for most everybody. Most of any group are good people. It's the idiots among them who make them look bad.
