It's amazing how fast they got these guys with all the video and pictures they had to go through.

Boston Globe reporting New Bedford PD has arrested three people as part of the investigation.

    Glad they got him alive.

Such a waste of life this whole thing has been for all involved.

What a great outcome. So impressed with FBI, state and local officials for how professionally they handled this! Kudos to them!

Indeed - the local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies have done an outstanding job.

There has been great work and some questionable work. On the federal level, a foreign government had been so concerned with his radical tendencies, that they approached the US to investigate him. They let that ride. And then there is the fact that they managed to let this guy escape after being in a shootout with over 200 rounds fired. That is a hard one to understand. The video work was good but since we now know they already had at least the older brother's name and information, and since they'd investigated him for extremist concerns, that would give them a jump start to primarily just search the videos (and they have facial recognition) to see if some of the people in their data base were picked up. That isn't to take away from the good video work but let's not think they were starting from scratch. They knew this guy and he was local.

How did they let it ride? They got the request, did an investigation and determined nothing was wrong. I think the LEO's did an incredible job no matter how much you want to whine, complain and make assumptions that aren't known yet. Go ahead and respond playing the victim again.

Thus saith Alex Beckbaugh. How sad.

I'll wait for something from the professionals that actually know something about the situation.

    smh.....

Somethings never change and are very predictable. History does repeat itself, eh.

They "let it ride" was a figure of speech and I wasn't implying any sort of victimhood. If you don't like what I have to say, let's debate the issues.

Moreover, I have my opinions about how it was handled and you have yours. If you can't handle a difference of opinion without making personal attacks, I suspect this isn't anything new in your life but don't try to make it my problem.

No Miranda warning will be given to suspect, public safety exception is being invoked for limited and focused interrogation
Any criminal law/constitutional law practitioners that can explain this?

Obviously never been on a two way range. There was also the matter of numerous explosive devices being deployed in the firefight. He literally ran over his brothers body to break contact last night. Not difficult to understand at all.

You say they let it ride and when called on it you say it was just a figure of speech? I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this. I feel the law enforcement agencies did a great job, worked hard, worked together to get these two in a short amount of time. You feel otherwise.

I think if you go back and actually read what I wrote, you'll see that I gave the police credit for some good work but had some specific reservations. Let's get real - in the aftermath of these things, people all cheer and high five. And that's fine. But the questions get asked later - always. So sue me for not waiting until later. I have absolutely no reason to want to denigrate the police work other than wondering about a few things that may well be answered in days to come and I'm not doing it now - you just are having a difficult time accepting an opinion different than your own, near as I can tell. I am a big supporter of the police - always have been. Doesn't mean I don't wonder about a suspect managing to escape in the middle of a fire fight - nor does it mean I have to jump on the bandwagon about the amazing work they did on the video - especially when they had the benefit of actually having video of the guy putting down the backpack from day one and the videos showed him with his brother - someone previously investigated for radicalism. I personally suspect they knew their names before the end of the day and wonder if they showed the people simply to see if anyone knew them under an alias that could lead them to more suspects. Just something I wondered about.

I read that didn't actually happen - conflicting reports, I guess.

I'll go with the word of the Mass HP Commander, the Watertown PD Chief, and numerous other law enforcement officials that were actually there. Care to divulge your "source"?

A conflicting one, as I said, dear. I didn't say you were wrong - just said I read something different. Settle down.

I didn't think you would divulge your "source". Concerned about its credibility or too much of a tin foil hat factor? I'm pretty settled that whatever it is cannot match the credibility of people that were actually involved in this operation.

Please no one reply with anything political. I'm not making a political statement. I just like seeing hard work paying off like this.
Yep everything worked almost perfectly. Always some things to improve, like how to control the chaos during shoot outs to keep people from slipping away, but I can't image the stress of a situation like that. This really couldn't have played out any better if it was a script for Criminal Minds.
