Thread: Fishing

    Default Fishing

I've been down here about 5 years now and have yet to get out fishing. I prefer to drown a worm sitting in a chair drinking a cold one rather that bass fishing so where's a good spot around this area to go do that at?

If all you want to do is kill worms and enjoy a brew Overholser or Hefner. At Overholser it is unlikely you will ever be bothered with a fish actually biting the worm. At Hefner your prospects are a bit better.

That sounds good but I would like to catch some while I'm there. I'm used to farm ponds and the river to fish in. Bullheads, catfish, etc.... Carp is fun to catch.

There is the Close to Home fishing at South Lakes Park. It is a public park so I don't know if you can drink a "cold one" there but I've caught some nice channel cat while using minnows to fish for crappie there.

There are also several Close to Home ponds along the Oklahoma River now and the river is always an option as well.

    put worm on hook.
    drown worm in tub.
enjoy cold ones in fav pub
    get ride home.
pitch the worm and secure gear.
    rinse tub
eat cold pizza or ribs right outta fridge
    sleep

I haven't fished in years. But when I did off the rocks on the south end of Overholser, off the rocks along the river next to Overholser and off the rocks of the Hefner dam were all good for catfish.

Thanks for the tip.... I haven't been fishing in a while either and I always liked it. I need to start taking time out to do some things I enjoy doing.

Crystal Lake on MacArthur and SW 15th is a GREAT place! There is a dock that goes out into the water but what I really recomend is that you "hike" around to the NW Corner where there has been Fish Habitat placed. This pond is stocked on a regular basis as well....
