    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Raptor Properties Acquires Dillard's Building, Kicks off Project Crossroads
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (March 27, 2013) - Raptor Properties, LLC has purchased what was once Dillard's department store on Tuesday as a part of their plans for bringing Crossroads Mall back as an Oklahoma City destination.

The Dillard's property includes the 3-level, 194,538-square-foot building located on the south-side of the main mall building as well as the adjoining parking lot. Trustmark Title handled the closing. Demolition of the interior of the building is expected to begin late next week.
Since investors Mike Dillard and Roddy Bates purchased the Crossroads Property in 2011, they have been formulating a plan based on successful mall revitalizations in other markets. The project has officially kicked off and will culminate in an announcement on April 24th at 4:00pm, center court of the mall to announce the new name of the center along with architectural renderings, new tenants and more detailed plans for the property.

“After extensive research and due diligence, we are very excited and confident about the new direction we are planning for Crossroads Mall. After garnering much support from our local and state leaders, we look forward to revealing our new partner and the redevelopment plan we have implemented,” Bates said.

The focus will now be on implementing the new vision for the mall, and getting information out to the public as soon as possible.

I'm betting on Lifestyle center, Hispanic Mall or a Museum

    Very interesting.

At the very least, sounds like a major investment will be made and of course, almost anything is better than the current state of that property.

Yes, I agree Kevin. However, I think that a new thread should be created called the rebirth of Crossroads mall so whoever is new, doesn't have to go through pages about zombies and stuff.

Turnaround plan for Crossroads Mall focuses on Hispanic community | News OK

It will be interesting to watch if Hispanic Crossroads Mall does the same to Hispanic Capitol Hill as Original Crossroads Mall did to Original Capitol Hill.

They will be allowed to stay if they want.

Here's what Crossroads will be modeled after.
Fort Worth - Shopping Mall - La Gran Plaza

nah, just put them in uniforms and let them run the security. They work cheap. Someone gets stupid, Zombie Mall Officer gets a snack. Zombie happy. New Recruit happy, Store owners happy. Gives a new meaning to "Sir, if you don't calm down, I'll have to alert security."

Can see it now. What do you call a shoplifter at CRM? .... Lunch

If done well it will attract attention from the entire city, not just the Hispanic community. Generally, this a postive move. God knows OKC could use a little variety.

And I remember being in awe of the place, as it was the first large enclosed mall I had ever seen. It was really a source of pride for the entire city for quite a while.

It's very hard to imagine how it will ever get things turned around. I fear it will continue to die a slow death and ultimately become a huge white elephant.

Yes, it's been badly managed and it's a sign of the changing times, but it still makes me blue.
Where exactly was Orbach's located at Crossroads? I moved to Oklahoma in '84 and it seems vaguely familiar.

It was on the lower level, next to The Record Bar on the Dillards end of the mall. Great store!

I can't say I'm crazy of the idea, but at the same time, I think it's better than it sitting empty. Like others have said maybe the variety will be a nice change.

Probably the best we could have hoped for... Hope it leases up and is successful.

La Gran Plaza features national chain retailers such as Burlington Coat Factory, Ross Dress for Less, Sonic and Foot Locker. But most of the mall's eateries and shops are Hispanic merchants. It has gone from 10 percent occupied to 93 percent leased, said Legaspi, president and owner of The Legaspi Co.

I hope they can come up with a name better than The Large Place.

Yeah, because the Asian District, Capitol Hill, our American Indian population and German population etc. are just too homogonized.

Growing up on the east coast I remember Orbach's in NYC, similar type clothing retail as well... I believe there is no relation to the two.

That space was also occupied by another clothier of the era called Napoleon Nash, which I believe was Orbach's predecessor.

Emmer Brothers was another local clothing store, and it occupied two floors on the south side of the west (Penny's) corridor. Had its own escalators - very cool for a non-anchor tenant. That was back when the place opened with Dillard's, Wards, John A. Brown, and JC Penny...
