I wish I was more computer savy. I have some very
interesting pictures from the whole event that would
shed some light here. I'm just not smart enough to
figure out how to post them. They show the loitering. They show the diffence in the "punks" and a typical
spyce customer. They show the age diffences. And they
show that increased presence (just by cars and lights) doesn't effect these types of people. FSU, I encourage you to go down their this saturday around eleven and check it out. I'm hopefull these people have got the message and their won't be much to see
I think your right and I think things will be better this weekend and hopefully for weekends to come and every business enjoys the benefits of bricktown! I just want everyone, reguardless of race, gender, whatever, to be able to have a safe enviornment to have a good time in! It just is not fun to see the type of activity thats gone on recently in "your backyard"!

Hmmmm....Freudian slip? Is that the problem? Maybe there is a "correlation"?

Agreed. Housing is very important to the continued
success and growth of this area. Residents like you
definetly need to feel safe and should be concerned.
I agree with BDP. This is a entertainment district
and not a residential neighborhood. Things like
music and drinking are fine in moderation, but
    this activity is not.

Yes, coloration is a word...like "the coloration of a Russian Blue cat is silvery gray-blue."

Why would these people go to Bricktown? There are no REALLY bad neighborhoods that close to Bricktown.

ETL -- they still let thugs have access to cars. We have not yet found a way to fix this yet. In fact, as we sit here, I'm sure they're loaning money to a person with BAD CREDIT to buy a car RIGHT NOW!!!

    scary stuff...

Do you equate folks with bad credit as thugs?

Nope. I was trying to provide an equally idiotic response to the one before mine saying that "these people" need to stay out of Bricktown.

    -- who are "these people"????

The problem with “these people” is that you can’t identify them with anything other than the crimes that they have committed.

So how can you fix this? More cops, which is my only solution. You need cops to keep places family friendly. Oh, what times do the clubs open, and do they have cops at the drinking establishment in Bricktown?

    No loitering?
Isn't part of the appeal of Bricktown to hang out, in other words loiter?

    Curfew?

Don't some of the events at the Ford end after 10PM?

The idea of just hanging out after 10pm in Bricktown only appeals to people looking for trouble and/or who probably shouldnt be there in the first place. I also dont think merchants care for people just hanging out in Bricktown that time of night as they arnt there to spend money in their businesses.

That is true, and on appropriate nights I'm sure that will be considered as a valid reason for walking around Bricktown.

Ill be out this weekend, I'll give a report back on Sunday or Monday:spin:

But if you let "some people" be in bricktown on "certain nights" for "valid reasons" then that would discrimination against the "other people" who are there on "other nights" for "other reasons".

If you look at it objectively then letting people be in bricktown for hornets games but not on other nights would be flat-out discrimination against ALL people, not just blacks or latino's, but caucasians as well, that of their own free will choose to be in bricktown on non-hornets nights.

Picking and choosing what is a valid reason and not a valid reason to be in Bricktown is discrimination and not what I thought Bricktown was for.

I don't care what color the gangs are.
It just needs to be cleaned up - and without concern for the "appearances" because they are minorities.

Discrimination is not the issue at hand.

The police and the business owners clearly stated it was a problem with juveniles that were just hanging out being a nuisance. These juveniles are not doing business down there. They are just going down there to hang out and cause problems.

The businesses have no problem with most juveniles. They are welcome just as much as anyone else.

The problem lies in the handful that chose to act like idiots. They damage property, congest the sidewalks, rough house and get way to loud. This kind of stuff makes paying customers leave. Nobody likes being around people who are acting like idiots.

Everyone is welcome in Bricktown; however, when you act like an idiot (regardless of your age) you will be asked to leave. If you do not leave. The police will deal with you accordingly.

Thats the point, a curfew IS "discrimination" against people loitering on the sidewalk. I have absolutly no problem with this "discrimination" (as you want to call it) if it prevents problems from occuring that have been occuring latley. As far as events, it would be pretty obvoius to tell the people coming from an event versus people hanging out outside a club hours after an event is over that shouldnt be there.

Although there wern't any shootings last night and there was a stronger police presence, things wern't much better. Thats all I'm going to say.

I managed to go back to Bricktown today for lunch, but it was light out. Bricktown after sun down is dead to me for right now until they actually get things fixed there.

What I'm saying is, is that around 1am there were crowds of people hanging out on the corners and around the movie theatre that probably shouldn’t be there. Its to the point where many of my friends, residents downtown (and obviously other people on this board) aren’t going out late in Bricktown anymore because they don’t feel safe.

One major incident in 5-8 years (that I know of). I'll take that anytime.

    Now if it continues.................
