Luxurious downtown listings

I came across some listings for rather high end condos downtown. Thought I'd post some of the pics, just for the heck of it.

By the way, I'm not pushing any real estate myself, lol. I have nothing to do with that. Just thought it would be interesting to take a look at what kind of high end residential is available in downtown OKC.

But no really, this has been listed for a while. Several of those larger Block 42 places have gone for sale the past couple years. They seem to change hands relatively frequently.

If you want to see the leader of the pack, search for the Penthouse (es) on top of the City Place.

Some one must have been high when they picked out that carpet.

Pretty cool place overall, but the price point seems ridiculous. In Houston you could get a similar unit for that price in a high demand area but it would be a detached town-home with its own garage and it would have a tiny little yard for the dog to soil.

Yeah, that carpet is a bit much. In fact, the whole decor in the first listing is a bit over the top for me. The zebra motif is not my thing. And what about that crazy art deco giant high-heel shoe thingy on the coffee table? Wow.

I don't know how the price of that thing compares to similar condos. I just assumed it was priced that high because it was so large in square footage.

I've been in the second listing and its really, really nice. The first has some taste issues but unfurnished (and uncarpeted) it would be nice. The price is no higher per square foot than The Hill listings. I don't have a problem with it, considering I've seen listings in San Francisco near downtown that are over $1,000 per sq. ft.

I see many details in both that I like but there is one small thing about both that I absolutely don't like. Why in the world would someone spend that much money and put in a single kitchen sink instead of double? It's so impractical in everyday use.

I've got a very large single sink in my kitchen which I put there by choice. I put a single farmhouse sink in the last two kitchens I've remodeled. I love the big sink for washing big pans and trays. You've got room for everything and you never splash water washing something too big for the sink. That's my personal bias, at least. I can't tell if the one in the photo above is as big as mine, and I can't remember what it looked like when I visited.

Got to agree - Wife loves the big farm sinks. I really don't see the point of a double sink unless you hand wash all your dishes, all the time. Also, they have large single sinks now with inserts that can make them double or even triple sinks when the need arises.

That's odd - 15th pic down from the top - the master bedroom has an outdoor propane heater in the middle of the room. Do you get a drafty master at that price?

Personally, if money were no object, then I could see buying one of the 'luxury' properties downtown. But you can just get so much more for your money outside of downtown and still be downtown in about 10-20 minutes.

I'd probably consider a brownstone before any of the others I've seen. If for no other reason than your own street accessible entry to your home. Been to a few homes downtown that ranged from $300-$1.2million and couldn't get over the fact they often shared garage space, front doors and hallways.

That said, with all the things going on downtown, I certainly see the draw. We just couldn't do it when we compared cheaper or same priced properties to those elsewhere. When I win the lottery (which guess means I have to start playing), I'm definitely getting a downtown place!

I also find it interesting that the same room with the haeter also has the bathtub in the same room as the bed. That looks like a hotel room somewhere. If I can afford $700k and 3200 sqft, then I want a seperate bathroom for my tub!

It's very popular these days. With dishwashers, you don't necessarily have a wash side and a rinse side any more.

I understand that (and dishwashers have been around for more than a few years) but there are always some things I wash by hand instead of a dishwasher such as drinking glasses, knives, and pots and pans. Anything that might be too light and move around, I also wash by hand. There are many other times when I want two drains also. I can put something in one side for preparation while using the other side for something else. Everyone has their own way of doing things but I would never want a single sink.

Also when you just need to have a small amount of water in the sink, it's really a waste with the large single ones.
