Nope, no nuns (I read the discussion at Flickr). It was a Methodist hospital named after John & George Wesley, the founders of Methodism.
Interesting early history of Wesley Hospital is below. I was born at Wesley and my mom gave me the wristband that I wore as a newborn. It has "Wesley Hospital" on the band and just says, "Baby Boy." I still have it! (Great photo of the sign, btw)
