Wow!!! Those are awesome... I suspect once the HSR Hub in SanFran is done, that will be pretty cool as well.. If OKC get's it's own HSR going in the next decade(hopefully sooner), I hope a really cool station is built for that!

I doubt our future station would make a Top 1,000 list, lol.

While a station in OKC certainly will not handle a million passengers a day, there is no reason why a station in OKC couldn't be a source of civic pride. As regional rail gets developed in cities around the US I am underwhelmed by their total lack of style on their stations. They are 100% utilitarian and style seems to have been checked at the door. Sure, not every stations should be grand but ones located in central city should raise the bar on civic buildings.

Hence the term "Amshack" for many suburban (and newer urban) train stations.

I think the Santa Fe station could be pretty interesting if a shed is built over the viaduct and maybe adding more enclosed space on or over the parking lots adjacent to Santa Fe station. If I recall correctly, there are tunnels in/under the viaduct to reach tracks on the east side so it may be possible to add space on the east side of the viaduct. The location presents some challenges, but I think with some creativity, OKC could eventually have a nice multimodal station.

Madrid Atocha is one of my favorite stations because it has an indoor botanical garden. I hope whatever our station looks like it'll be designed to be a destination in itself in addition to having its function.

Before its demolition in 1963, Pennsylvania Station in New York City was incredible. Give it a search and a look sometime. The scale and the detail were just about unbelievable. Just my opinion.

MOST stations do not handle a million pax a day, so Im not sure why it is even necessary to make such a statement in order to build a nice, ornate terminal. .....

As Kerry pointed out, build it for civic pride and possible future growth and not for some stupid unachievable metric. I mean, is there ANY station worldwide that achieves 1 million pax a day? I've been to the largest (Nagoya, Japan - lived there for 2 years) and the busiest (Shinjuku, Tokyo Japan) stations in the world but I don't think even those had 1 million pax a day - tho maybe Im wrong as both were quite busy. ...
    Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!

HOT ROD - many stations serve more than 1 million a day. Shinjuku average 3.5 million a day. With regional rail, streetcar, city buses, and Amtrak to Tulsa and Dallas I wonder how many people could be expected to pass throught Santa Fe on an average day.
