Thread: Target at May & NW Expressway adding groceries

Default Target at May & NW Expressway adding groceries

My wife went to the Target on North May and Northwest Expressway and noticed a construction fence on the north side near the Office Max. When she went in the store there was a sign on the door stating that groceries would be added soon to this location. I know they have a few essentials there right now but this will apparently increase their grocery capacity. Also, while she was in Target she noticed that items were being moved throughout the store based on this change.

Targets all over the metro are getting this - not all Targets, but a few. Midwest City Target started their reno this past week. Added will be a bakery, fresh meat and produce. My check out person said two more stores in OKC are getting renovated. Yippee!

Any idea if Yukon will be one of them?

Does it not have the bakery/fresh meat sections? It already carries produce.

I went in there the other night. Noticed about 4 or so check out aisles are gone. Hopefully the fresh produce and grocery will dissipate the weird smell of that location, lol.

When they acquired the Office Depot space that adjoined the building and expanded, they didn't make it a SuperTarget. When I asked why, they said they were 8 square feet shy of the minimum requirements and 15 parking spaces. Seriously.

That is ridiculous, since 8 square feet is nothing and their is at max like three days out of the year those spaces might be taken.

That is true it was just short of becoming a ST because of the site constraints. Now it appears they are going to make it a hybrid. Many years ago, that Target used to be one their best grossing stores in the entire chain, and that was even after Target had moved out west into California. Even after the original Quail store was built and the newness wore off, the May store, referred to as "T-43", (their 43rd store) still did superior sales. I bet the groceries do well in that location.

No, doesn't have either. It has a small grocery section, and a few fridges/freezers. Kind of like the Rockwell/NW Exp Target. They have plenty of room to put in a full fledged grocery I would think. They have a lot of wasted space in certain sections of that store. Wal-Mart would lose a lot of my business (not that they care) if Target added a grocery!!

The Super Target in Norman is OK. Some stuff is good, some is expensive, some is reasonably priced.

A conversation I can actually add value to! I mostly lurk here. I don't want to give too much about myself away but I am in a position to answer A LOT of questions you might have about Target in Oklahoma City, or District 301 as we call it

For one, the company has been in the process over the past several years of converting most of its General Merchandise stores into a new prototype called "PFresh" for fresh produce. The company is also moving away from building SuperTargets as the large grocery side is generally a money loser.

The stores in Midwest City, North May, Rockwell and NW Expressway, and Yukon will all be converted to PFresh prototype stores early this year. The Yukon and Rockwell remodels will begin in March. While there are several slightly differing types of PFresh stores, if you want an idea of what one will look like once complete, check out the new(ish) Moore store. That store opened about 18 months ago as a PFresh store. Overall, PFresh has a larger selection of groceries than a GM, but is obviously nowhere near what a SuperT would carry.

That's great news, I'm tired of getting meat at Walmart ( no offense) I was at Target yesterday and They stared getting rid of a lot of their shoes and clothes ( probably to make room for the grocery expansion) , I got a pair of Jeans for 15. I saw that to the left of target they are doing some sort of work there, any idea what they are doing?
