This thread reminds me of StumbleUpon. Great app where you can choose to read or view pics of all different types of subjects and my choices tend to be what yours are.
Yessir you are correct. It is the blue dot. Also just throwing this out there
The first AM broadcast was on Christmas Eve, 1906, and Hitler’s broadcasting of the 1936 Olympics is regarded as the first signal powerful enough to be carried into space - which is a rather disturbing thought.
So if any aliens out there pick up our broadcast that will likely be the first broadcast they receive. lol

Here are a few interesting websites I have found if anyone is interested. Some of these I'm sure most people already know, but I'll post them anyways.

Atomic Alchemy: Nuclear Processes : A nice website that explains in detail Nuclear Fission and other things such as Nuclear disasters and exactly how they were caused, other nuclear processes, and also has a very nice Periodic Table of the Elements.

Information Unlimited - Science Projects, Electronics Kits, Lasers, Tesla Coils, High Voltage Engineering, Plans, Books, Parts, Kits : A very amazing site where you can buy things you might have dreamed about. There is a lot in it, but, trust me. Search around on it and you can make some very cool science experiments.

HobbyTron.com - Remote Control Cars Trucks Boats Nitro Gas Electric - Airsoft Guns, Magic Tricks & Science : Another cool website where you can buy airsoft and air guns. Also has a fairly decent selection of Remote control vehicles. A little on the pricey side though. :/

iPet Companion : A really interesting website for pet lovers. This website allows you to use a real time camera and with the click of a button, moves an interactive toy to play with the animals(cats and dogs). All this is from your computer and best of all, IT'S FREE!!!!! There are many places to choose from and depending on what you choose, their is a wait time.

2010 Census Interactive Population Map : Most people know about this one, but, I thought I'd share anyways just in case. This is a very useful and fun interactive map that has many features, most notably looking at population numbers with many ways to filter and explore it.

Space and NASA News : Another great and useful website that most probably already know. Things about space.... the universe... solar system... the galaxy... and all that good stuff.

Top 10 List | Top Ten Lists : A website that contains a plethora of top ten list. At times I question the credibility of this website but for the most part it is pretty good.

U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time : The good ol' debt clock. Has anyone ever seen this. ... The numbers are astonishing though. Warning debt limit breach. That's okay though because the rules of paying back money and not spending what you don't have, don't apply to our government. Just us.

LICENSE PLATES OF THE WORLD : For license plate junkies. lol ... Check out all these license plates from all over the world.

http://www.greatmirror.com/index.cfm...uresize=medium : This is a really cool photography website that I might have actually found from a link posted on this website. I can't really remember. Anyways it contains a bunch of pictures many from Oklahoma.

Interactive Map | USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map : Here is an interactive map for the USDA Hardiness zones

I have some more I'll post on here later, but I thought I'd share these for anyone who is interested.

You know what the most amazing thing about that amazing diagram is to me?
It's the fact that only inhabitants of that one little spot in the entire "big picture" are capable of producing that design.

True. The one inhabitants are able to build something truly as amazing as the Devon Tower is just awesome. I mean even people just 300 years ago would've never thought something like the Devon Tower could be built. Humans are truly amazing creatures and I think the most amazing wonder of our Solar system is the human brain. It is just amazing how powerful our brains are.

Do you think it is possible to terraform mars? I think it could be done given the right technology and expertise.

Check out Kevin Gill's concept art of what the Red Planet might look like if it could be terraformed with Earth-like oceans and life. The image shown is the view of Mars' eastern hemisphere.

Nice article about some of the history of Mars and how it could be terraformed.

    1. The surface temperature must be raised
    2. The atmospheric pressure must be increased
    3. The chemical composition of the atmosphere must be changed
    4. The surface must be made wet
    5. The surface flux of UV radiation must be reduced

Think pollution in L.A. is bad? Check out China!

There has been a public outcry in China over the last few days with regard poor environmental standards and dangerous levels of air pollution. Over the last two days, a thick blanket of choking smog has enveloped the city of Beijing and large swathes of northern China, with visibility reduced to <100 metres in some areas.

At the peak of the event, PM2.5 (fine particulate matter, less than 2.5 microns in diameter) readings reached 993 micrograms per cubic metre; 40 times the World Health Organisation (WHO) safe limit. This incredibly high reading was reflected in an increase in the number of people admitted to hospitals with respiratory problems in the area during the smog.

The intensity of the smog is attributed to low winds, the mixing of fog with pollutants and the fact that the smog was somewhat trapped by the mountains north and west of Beijing.

In a form of protest, dozens of building sites and a car factory in the capital halted work as an anti-pollution measure.

The darkness of the last few days has cast some light on an on-going issue with regard the lack of environmental policy in a country experiencing dramatic economic development. It is time for a revaluation of the importance of the local and global environments within society and the development of suitable regulations to support it.
