    Default Gym membership?

Is anyone a member of a gym? I'm considering joining a local gym, and aren't quite sure which one to join. I've looked at Aspen Athletic Club at NW Expressway and Rockwell. I was quite impressed, but I wasn't too impressed with the prices. Any suggestions would help.

If you live close to the Edmond area, you might try the UCO Wellness Center. It's open to public via membership.....pretty nice workout place. The only thing lacking is a pool though, so if you're wanting that, you'll have to try elsewhere.

I can vouch for the wellness center. Very nice place. Was what.. 9.6 million dollars? Hard to beat that budget.

Since I moved downtown, I joined the YMCA up here. Has everything but raquetball courts. But they have those at the YMCA up around Penn & Britton. And I can use any location.

I'm at the Aspen on Rockwell if you have any questions, the price is more but look what you get compared to other places

Hey metro, how much is Aspen up on Rockwell? I've been curious about looking into it myself! Seems like a pretty nice place.

Well it depends. Each month they have a different special. They also have corporate memberships with different employers. They dont have contracts. It depends on the Initiation fee you pay, the more you pay down, the less it is a month. I pay around $40 a month. More than some places but not bad considering the facilities arent even comparable to other place in OKC.

YMCA is 34.95/month or 35.95 (something like that). Facilities are pretty nice in my opinion.

Comparable to the Wellness Center at UCO in some respects -- well.. no plasma TV's, but there are TV's.

Look at what you get at Aspen though compared to other places, the sales people are pushier than most but the facilities are incomparable

Gyms are too expensive. I am glad Dell will give us one free of charge with our benefit plan. I just wonder what is next when I eventually leave Dell.

    Thanks Metro for the info.

Midtowner, I was just curious, is there any start up fee for the Y?

I think it's around $75.00. Still not a big deal considering the use I'm getting out of the place. Raquetball at the northside location at least 2-3 times a week, weights and cardio 2-3 times per week. I'm still not sure how I'll fit it in next year, but I guess I'll jump off that bridge when I get there.

The police/fire training center gym is FREE, at least for me. That's where I like to go to lift weights, run, etc.....

Hey 1adam12....does the OKCPD require you guys to work out? Just wondering....some of your fellow officers seem to be working their jaws out at Winchells! LOL!

Midtowner, which Y are you at? My nephews are members up at the Edmond Family divisions one, off Rankin!
