    SLC-OKC on DL has a funky schedule. They run the 1st half of most weeks with 2 CRJ-700s and then the 2nd half of the week just about has 3 CRJ-700S. Weird....

    Most airlines run a reduced schedule on Tue, Wed, Sat.

    I think OKC is at an average of 75 daily departures right now, nowhere close to the 97 daily at one point in the summer of '07 (remember Expressjet?), but with the number of destinations and the economy the way it is, not bad.

    Peak day average is around 81 for the high season.

    and particularly with larger equipment, very not bad.

    Some fuel for the US Airways fire.

    I have noticed in the past week or so they have been filing a lot more codeshares with UA out of OKC.

    I think they are going to announce service regardless of the DCA slot award process. Also, an ops room downstairs in the airport has undergone recent renovations.

    "In its application to the US DOT, US Airways says its ‘three-for-one’ service proposal will provide The Oklahoma City community of over 1.3 million people access to the nation’s capital, its Charlotte-Douglas hub and over 125 destinations across its network. It says Oklahoma City is currently the largest metropolitan area lacking a direct service to Reagan National and anticipates carrying around 56,000 passengers annually on the service. ..."

    I think OKC has a great shot given this statement; the competition already has a wealth of service options to DCA, OKC is the largest metro area without. Add to that, Southwest got its AUS-DCA already and USAir an addition/reintroduction to the OKC market.

    Could result in a huge boost to OKC's pax statistics and give the city at least one daily flight to all 3 dc area airports; which is direly needed and most all other major metro areas enjoy.

    I would love to be as optimistic as you, but I'm not. This reasoning was the same that WN gave in the summer, and they still lost. US Airways also has the vast majority of slots at DCA already, so that isn't going to help. WN's application is being pushed to impact more people, due to it going to their HOU "hub", and it'll provide competition to the existing IAH-DCA services. There is also a strong argument out there that US can fly this tomorrow if they want, they just need to pull a slot from a route that is currently under performing.

    Southwest has a major lobbying effort going into this with their "Red, White, and HOU" campaign. US Airways hasn't matched that at all yet. This is similar in effort that they put forth with AUS, but they didn't do anything close to this for OKC.

    I hope OKC wins it, but I still give WN an 80-90% chance of winning this one.

    Can definitely hope. Would be nice to see the flag back in OKC. Gives me memories of being back east.

    Effective February 15 - April 13 of next year, we’re bringing back daily roundtrip nonstops between Orlando and Oklahoma City.

    Why that time of year, when the peak time would be summer? Are they just trying to see if there would be demand at all times of the year before fully reintroducing it?

    Yeah those of us out of academia and without children in school tend to forget about spring break. I only have a clue because my sister is a teacher and my nephew have visited us during spring break in the past.

    While Feb. - April is the main time for spring break it's really only about a two week period in the middle of March here. Other parts of the country have spring break at other times. Anything is possible but I doubt that spring break was a major factor.

    Feb-Apr (outside of the main spring break) is also fairly slack with aircraft scheduling, so it's a good time to try a route, you have increasing demand because of spring break while also having a lot of aircraft downtime. You aren't hurting any other routes by pulling them from profitable flying to try it.

    OCAT is pursuing a grant with the Kirkpatrick Foundation for the integration of public art in the terminal building and concourses. Could be anywhere from 25-35k in funds.
