Every time I see an aerial photo of downtown, the huge portion of land that is surface parking or vacant immediately jumps out. Hopefully better uses for many of these sites will be coming soon.

That big swath revealed from this angle is particularly jarring and no matter how excited I get about OKC, when I go back and pass through there it still feels like some sort of DMZ.
It's changing but I'd sure like to see a big project of some sort go in there to plug at least part of the hole.
Straying even further off topic, but imagine what might happen if two or three high quality, high volume developers could be enticed to start rebuilding real neighborhoods and commercial areas in these wasted spaces... I wonder how quickly we might see areas like this fill in. I think the demand is there or coming very soon.
I have 2 questions for anyone really and excuse me if I didn't read far enough back on this post because perhaps the answer to my question has already been answered.
1.) Does anyone know if Devon is going to keep the lights on the tower constantly changing or stick with one color eventually? I'd rather it stay one color personally but happy either way.
2.) I hear rumors of another tower coming soon via newsok.com and Steve Lackmeyer. Does anyone know anything about this as well?
Everything that's known. Anything new will be in the Sunday Oklahoman.

I don't think any of us know for sure. But I would guess that on a typical night, they will only display one color. Whether they change that color/arrangement from night to night, we'll see.
Would be awesome if the could have the "OKC Thunder" Logo on the crown during game nights.
I think it would be cool if Devon stuck with one color like Dallas's Bank Of America Plaza. Just my opinion. I'm happy regardless though.
Steve just told me that Devon will be very tight on who gets in for the ceremony. They were even that way with The Oklahoman staff. I took the day off and I'll be down there but I'm not expecting to get in. Just FYI. I mentioned this in the "mystery tower" thread as well.
What time is the ceremony?
Just by coincidence I have a meeting at the Colcord that afternoon.
I don't even know actually. Should have asked, or should already know.
it's...

That is awesome. Are all the stair wells like that? With openness and a view like that maybe more people will take the stairs for short trips.
No...this is just the open balcony area of Vast.
Right. For some reason, I was thinking this was in the triangular area (can't quite think of the name right now) but now that I look more closely, I see the details and IIRC someone took a photo of this area from ground level during construction and we all were wondering about this configuration.
Crown...crown just popped into my head.

The Devon Energy Center safety record is celebrated as work winds down on construction in Oklahoma City.

Call it superstition, call it prudence, but for whatever reason, for months those overseeing the construction of the 50-story Devon Energy Center declined to discuss what is being hailed as an extraordinarily safe job site.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA — The elevator stops at the 50th floor. That’s where John Williams comes to work every day. “It’s neat,” he gushes. “It’s so cool up here.”
