The restaurant's co-founder, jesse coit, will be sharing photos and a history of the restaurants she and her late husband don started more than 50 years ago. Folks, coit's was put up for sale a few months ago, and one of the three restaurants, the one frequented by capitol hill old-timers in the southside, recently closed. This is essentially a chance to catch a glimpse and enjoy what may be the last remnant of another era when there were no mcdonald's, burger kings or wendys, but instead locally beloved restaurants like the spot, spartan drive-in and shipman's. Please try to join us monday if you can, and feel free to buy a coit's root beer, hot dog or hamburger to enjoy while we hear from jesse coit and get a first glimpse of photos that will soon be added to our website. The meeting is free and open to the public.
