Building permit today for 1775 square feet in this building, directly east of Big Truck Tacos at 520 NW 23rd.

Use says restaurant... Perhaps this is the long-rumored gelato place the BTT people were going to open?

    The permit was for $54K.

Here is what was reported in the JR last summer:

East of Big Truck, there are plans to open Aviano’s, an Italian gelato and sorbet shop at 520 NW 23rd St.
    They have a Facebook page:

The BTT "gift shop" is really just a faux store front, similar to Devon's parking garage displays. It just displays BTT tshirts, which you buy at the actual restaurant. Great way to show off empty space and make it more appealing, but it doesn't generate revenue. honestly do some of you think BTT is selling many tshirts at $25 a pop? They'd be better off selling at cost and getting walking billboards out there.

If I had $50,000,000 sitting around, I'd dump it all on this strip between Classen and Broadway. It has the chance to be really special.

Another building permit for 522 NW 23rd, which would be just west of the gelato place.

Says it's current a catering kitchen for Big Truck Tacos but now will be a restaurant.

I believe that Chris Lower / Restaurant Resource Group, Inc. owns Big Truck and the Metro. He is knoen for investing in and opening new concepts. You are more than likely correct.

Looks like Aviano's Gelato at 520 NW 23rd is getting closer to open, as they received approval for an ADA ramp:

Maybe the activity near Big Truck will encourage some at the Tower block. What a shame to see it sit empty and unrefurbished.

Pretty good progress on the Ed Stamp's Commercial building.

The middle store front is being finished out into a restaurant. Maybe the Gelato Place? They already have their hours posted. Mon-Thurs 12-7 Friday 12-5. I guess no late night or weekend Gelato. I usually like my Gelato on Friday evenings. I guess I will have to continue to go the the Bricktown Candy Co.

The eastern store front is being finished out as some sort of London Store

That says London Reign on the sign. I found a record of incorporation for London Reign Enterprises LLC at 1708 NW 16th Street and that's not on 23rd Street so I'm not positive it's connected.

This space is being developed by Premier entertainment group. They have several businesses including gallery in one space and Premier Limousine in the other along with their offices. The corner space and the one next to it are now connected by a doorway. They are really doing a lot with the spaces.

Anyone happen to know what happened to Aviano, the gelato place due east of Big Truck Tacos (and I believe to be operated by the same people)?

Here is a photo of their interior finish from almost a year ago:

They were doing a lot of work on the building this weekend. I am curious if it just wasn't doing well.

Aviano's never opened. They were doing something crowd funding earlier this year.

Rehearsals put their sign up last week. Not sure of an opening date.

The space that was to be Aviano Gelato is now leased to a dance class place called Studio 7:

They just applied for a sign permit but I don't know if this will be a permanent business or not.

The gelato place started two years ago, stopped, started again and now seems to be off.
