I haven't eaten at Ron's in a while, shame since I live 5 minutes from the 50th and May location. My cholesterol and diet go into apoplexy every time I drive by.

Just do what I do, order it with low fat mayo. LOL

Or do what I do. Anytime I want something that some doctor would gasp over, I just order a diet soda to offset it.

Turns out I drink a lot of diet soda.

I like those ideas.... I go for blood work next week so I'll stop by on the way back from the Dr's office.

I just never did get into Ron's and I lived in the neighborhood behind that side of Mayfair before I moved to Austin. Tried it several times and just wasn't as impressed as others have been. It was good but never great to me. I much preferred Johnnie's before they went down hill.

My favorite in OKC was always the Lake Hefner Golf Course Pro Shop before they remodeled it, I always thought that was one of the better burgers in town.

The golf course was on my group's weekly rotation and their burgers were very good. Not gourmet, no half pounders, just good basic hamburgers. As far as Ron's, it was Ok, but not one of
    my favorites.

I've never personally tried it, but I've lots of people say the burgers at Kickingbird golf course are really good.

    Debzkidz,
I have eaten at several golf course' club houses and never been disappointed. Too bad I don't play golf. Lincoln Park was also pretty good.

Although I haven't eaten at one in years I remember bowling
alleys had great burgers. Penn 44 was fantastic as was Holiday
Lanes and Planet Bowl. It may have been that the little old
ladies who did most of the cooking took pride in what they did.

Windsor Lanes always had a pretty good burger when I was growing up. On motorcycle rides out in the Hill Country the little bowling alley in Blanco was always a stop for a great burger until they closed last year as the owners were retiring from what I had heard. The Lone Star Motorcycle Museum in Vanderpool (TX) has a good burger along with Aussie meat pies and a real good buttermilk pie.

Yes, it did. I've not had an Aussie meat pie but it sounds good.

The owner of The Lone Star Motorcycle Museum is an Aussie and a retired speedway race, his wife is a Texan. She runs the Ace Cafe in the museum and he rebuilds the bikes in the back, I guess that it is some of his "food from home" and they do a pretty good job with it. The museum is open from February to Around Thanksgiving, they usually head back to Australia to visit his family over the Christmas holiday and then return to Texas to open up. If you ever find yourself down there it is a worthwhile stop for lunch in a great riding area.

I have. The burgers were good, not great, but the place had a
rancid odor. Not clean? Not sure but I won't go back. The smell
isn't worth the money or time. One can get a better burger at
Burger King and it doesn't stink.

Oh my! Fat chance I'll ever be there. LOL. There's a better chance
I'll be in Dalhart, which is in the middle of nowhere!.

I know that all too well, on a couple of Austin-Denver trips, stayed there one night when we were tired heading back to Austin. Usually we made it a two day trip stopping in OKC to see the folks. There is a whole lot of better riding down near Austin than there is in Dalhart.

I'm coming back into town on Thursday night, my 30 year HS reunion is this weekend.

Agreed. Don't know why the hate from some. Buns are fantastic. Add grilled jalapenos and you have a nice piece of heaven.

Only been there once (not in my normal travel path, but the new Classen Curve location will be), Tuckers was decent but not quite up to the hype surrounding it. Went into the Tucker's "rip-off" (Jakes located at Portland & 39th Expressway the other night and it was very good. Had the burger and rings and a hot link. The hot link definitely had some kick to it, very tasty. Everything was fresh (cooked to order) and it was quick service too. If I remember correctly, their menu items run right at $1 less each than Tuckers. Will definitely give Tuckers another try when they open up but will also go back to Jakes and try their fries.

This is my very favorite burger place, too, rcjunkie. It's the best I've had. The last time my husband and I ate at Meers we were completely disappointed. Very "meh" burger, and the place didn't look very clean. I'll keep going to J &W.

Stables Cafe in Guthrie, and for Fast Food, Jack In The Box. Just glad OKC has one now.
