As a graphic designer, it is dang hard to find something "new under the sun" as someone, somewhere at some time has done something similar. I get inspired by others work and while I don't copy directly, I may pull a color from here, a type face from there, a layout from another and you have something "new".

Then there was a case where some hamburger place tried to sue another because they both had burgers and Cokes or something as absurd just on the face of it. Which reminds me of the scene in "Coming to America" (itself a "stolen" project) where the McDougal's (a McDonald's ripoff) was actually in a Wendy's. LOL

But I have to admit those menus are very similar in layout, almost identical wording (even down to the listing of the condiments).

In the end, it's all about who is tastier for about the same price...

That look's very similar.. Not to mention they are serving pretty much the exact same menu at exactly $1 cheaper than everything on Tucker's menu

Wasn't there a thread about Tucker's sign being nearly identical to someone else's? Who cares, they all stole from the El Reno onion burger joints who probably stole from someone else and so on. All that matters is you go to the place that makes your belly and wallet happy.

Well I decided to stop by and check it out. I was greeted by a waitress who promptly seated me. She told me the drinks are free and took my order.

I ordered the double with cheese. She advised me condiments were not included on the burger, I'd need to add my own. I kind of like this idea as I can put the exact amount of ketchup/mustard I want on it.

After about 10 minutes she brought out my order, It was all made fresh to order. I tried the frys first. Not impressed. They were not crispy, rather mushy and tasted like cheap russet potatoes. They are very similar to Bunny's fries, but not as crispy. The burger itself was ok, but nothing special. As you can see from the picture, the onions were not really caramelized. They use a standard mass-produced bun. Standard iceberg lettuce, I was hoping for romaine lettuce. The burger had some sort of seasoning on it, or maybe that was on the grill itself, it was a little odd tasting. Overall, I was not impressed for the price. The double cheeseburger with fries and a drink was $10+Tip.

I might go back if I am in the area, however I would not plan a special trip there, where I would for a burger joint like Nics.

I really need to give Nics another try...had high expectations after word of mouth and after seeing it featured on Triple D...cramped and 20 minute wait but that was part of the "ambience/experience" and didnt count against it...smelled and looked great but was undercooked (charred on the outside and raw on the inside) with surprisingly little flavor. Took a couple of bites and got the rest to go and finished cooking it at home.

I guess even ol'Nic is not 100%. I think I read on another blog that someone had a slightly pink burger. I've never had that experience with his burgers. And I'm not one that can tolerate a pink burger. I like a steak almost blue rare, but not a burger! I love his burgers, wouldn't call them a true onion burger though, but I'm often not feeling aggressive enough to eat there. From the looks of it, Big Jakes burgers don't fit the bill of a true onion burger either.

If you read Tuckers thread, they were accused of stealing their logo from Steubens. If you ask me, Tucker's looks more close to Steubens than Jakes does to Tucker's. Jakes justs looks plain homemade in Microsoft clip art.

My husband and I tried it soon after it opened. It was just so-so. At the time they didn't have the timing down very well. I don't think they even started to fry up the fries and onion rings until the burgers were made. And the one thing that really disappointed my husband was he got jalapanos on his burger. But unlike it says on the menu they were neither fresh nor grilled. That to me was pretty major. If your menu says something is fresh grilled, then it should be fresh grilled and not something out of jar.

Makes you wonder how much of their menu is accurate? Like the "hand formed daily from the highest quality, fresh, never frozen, farm raised beef (or did they pick up a carton of burgers at Sam's)...

We were not even aware of Tuckers when we opened and our logo were indeed created from a graphic designer using microsoft word.

Im sorry to hear you had a bad experience at our restaurant being the first month we were open we made a few changes to the recipes before we were able to change the menu. What we found was that the fresh cut jalopenos we hoped to serve were lacking in flavor so in the best interest of turning up the heat we turned to pickled jalopenos. The menu has since been updated and we have added a few new items as well. I hope we get another chance to earn your business. If you are interested in trying us again you can print a discount coupon at restraurants.com hope to see you back soon...

Nothing is bought from Sam's Club and we stand behind out claim of the high quality never frozen beef patty's are formed daily.

Sorry to hear everyone is concerned with our menu being so similar to all the other Onion Burger places out there. Our goal is to focus on a family friendly atmosphere with good food fresh ingredients at a reasonable cost. Sounds like we should have invested more on our graphic design and logos to get a real shot at peoples business so as not to be labeled as another Good egg group rip off. Hopefully people will look past our simple design and enjoy it for what it is. We have since added a few items to the menu and changed a few things I invite everyone to give us another try now that we had a chance to work out some of the kinks. We realize here that a customer is the hardest thing to earn and the easiest to lose that being said we will continue to focus on a high level of customer service with a quality product we can be proud of. See ya'll at Big Jake's
