Anyone have the new Ipad? Reviews? For those that don't have a tablet, is it worth getting? Or settle for the 2? Or even go Android?

Unless you're getting the LTE model I would just go with the 2.
(double post)
Its not worth the upgrade if you have version 2.0. However, it is a considerable upgrade to those with iPad 1.0.
If you don't have a tablet at all, the iPad is still king of the hill. I've tried them all and owned a few for brief periods of time. Nothing compares to the iPad IMO. That said, most people would actually be very happy with just a $200 Kindle Fire.
^^yea that
If you are always near wi-fi then the Fire is a much less expensive option that doesn't disappoint.
It all depends on how much your willing to spend. I'm using a 64 GB wifi now. I love it. I didn't want the LTE because the main place I'm using it is at home and I occasionally use the public Wi-Fi at work on my breaks. Not to mention Cox is experimenting with city wide wi-fi in California. I have feeling OKC will be among the first cities to go live once their done testing it. Worst case scenario I can activate hot spot on my iPhone if I decide I want it for outside of home and work use.
I was an early-adopter of the first-gen and held out when the 2 came out, as there wasn't much reason for me to upgrade. Now that I'm thinking about adding more to our "fleet," the new iPad didn't impress me enough to feel like I have to spring for it. Now that the 2 will be $100 cheaper, that's the route I plan to go when I purchase a couple in the next few months. I agree with BBatesOKC, that the iPad is king of the hill. Just my opinion.
I've never had an iPad but now that the iPad 2 is $100 cheaper than before I'm just going to go ahead and get that instead of getting the new iPad. I was going to get the new iPad but it doesn't seem like enough of an upgrade (my preferences) from an iPad 2 to spend the extra $100 on. Just my personal opinion of course.
I understand where you're coming from, but I think the future resale value of the new iPad is worth the extra $100. Having the latest iPad guarantees you close to almost an even swap selling used a year or two later. The iPad 2 will be two generations back when you want the next iPad. You would more than get your $100 use out of the latest iPad and you'd get more than $100 in resale value. Just something to think about. Either way, have fun, I have loved my iPad for the last year way more than I thought I would.
Hmmmm, not really. Considering the newest iPad traditionally matches last years price and the fact last years model gets reduced by $100+ it makes a used one worth even less. The only way you get closest to what you originally paid is to sell a month or so before the newest iPad is released, as most people don't realize a new one is around the corner. Even then you're going to take about $100 hit. After the newest release, you take a $150+ hit on the 64GB model.
The best way IMO to buy is to wait and buy used or refurbished 2-6 months after release, then sell right before the next one is released.
Also, NEVER buy the extended warranty until a few days before the old warranty expires. Also, having a warranty does help on resale (but not by much).
Won't the new iPad have at least a $100 greater resale value a year from now than the iPad 2? I admit to not worrying about resale and really posted what I have read from others and using some logic with the iPad pricing and product release schedule. But, maybe I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time!). Am I wrong in my question? Considering, you're buying new. I agree with you about the buying used at the right time, but I was responding thinking of a new purchase.
Yeah, I've thought of the future resale value before but not much until just now. I'm still debating which one to get and the future resale value is intriguing to consider. I plan on keeping whichever I get a few years but I don't want to have it there to collect dust when the next "hot" Apple product is catching raving reviews. Thanks for the heads up, Mike.
I am definitly upgrading to the new iPad, Its more HD and performs faster, and longer battery lifeif I am correct.
Yes, a newer model will always have more value than an older model. That's why I suggest buying the current model used and then selling before the new model comes out. The fact a new iPad seems to emerge each year will actually hurt the value of used ones because they are perceived as more obsolete even faster than if the iPad was only upgraded every 2 years or so. However, by upgrading each year your iPad is costing you a lot of money to maintain. If you really need the upgrades (most people don't) then it may be worth it (or if you can write it off). However, people with an iPad 1 bought used/refurbished are actually financially better off than those who upgrade with each new model.
Considering most people only need to get online, check email, read a book and play a game or two, the Kindle Fire is actually a much better deal.
To me an Android tablet would need to be significantly cheaper to entice me into buying one over an iPad. I will probably get one of the new Ipads but then I don't have one to replace. A couple of guys at work bought them when they came out, one upgrading from a first gen, the other had an iPad2 that he is giving to another family member.
This. I've had the 1 and 2. Unless you need serious resolution, can't think of why, other than vector graphics (and even I work in the ad design biz and don't see a need), then your spending more money for apps that will take up significantly more space, and the battery gets hotter. Save your money and get the 2. As bbates said, no other tablet comes close to the iPad.
We have an ipad 3 and the retina display is amazing. I'd get it for that if for no other reason, especially if you do a lot of photography browsing on it.
I have not had any issues with my 3 64GB Wi-Fi. I purchased a Kensington Case, Bag and Stylus bundle for $89 from Good Egg and I am very happy with the whole set up. I will be using this thing for years to come.
What it all comes down to is How much you are willing to part with for an Ipad. You're going to be happy with either product. One the things I like about apple is that they don't instantly stop production of the old models. They continue to support the previous model for few years after a replacement enters the market.
Iphone 3G users are still enjoying their phone as much as the the 4s users. With other phones and tablets your lucky if you can still find updates after the new one enters the market. If your lucky you might make it a year before they stop offering updates or apps start being geared towards models newer then yours.
I still have my 1st generation 32GB Wi-Fi model. Although I'm much more into Android, I love the iPad and haven't yet seen a reason to upgrade models.
Lately, my only tablet use has come from my Galaxy Note, which is also used for a phone. It's big enough that I don't need to turn to my tablets (I also have the original 7" Galaxy Tab) very often.
My mother has the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus, and it's a fine little machine. You can get the WiFi only version of it for about $350, and it's well worth it.
I was told that Google is partnering up with Asus to make a new Google tablet, 7" in size, which will run on pure Android (most likely ICS) and will run about $200 to compete with the Kindle Fire and Nook tablet. With pure Android and no overlay, I think it has a good chance of nabbing up a big chunk of that 7" market.
