Thread: Level Apartments

  1. Default Re: Level Urban Apartments

Im holding my breath but I hope the end result is better looking than right now. Even though the aloft and level will complement each other, they still dont mix well with the entire neighborhood, but we'll see.

And they are installing traffic light lens which you can't see which light is on until you are right at the intersection so people have to slow down or risk running through a red light. It works.

That is one things I wondered about when the architect said they wanted to bring London design to OKC. Which London - Victorian or modern? All over London are modern strucutres built right next to Victorian strucutures. I guess maybe that is what they meant.

I live in that neighborhood, i think it looks great, and am excited about the project and some architectural diversity in the neighborhood.

I hate those! I like knowing where I am at in the sequence of the signal as I am approaching. For example, if I see the left arrows are going and I am coming up, I might not need to slow down as much as by the time I get to the intersection the forward green lights may be on. Or if I see the forward green lights are on, I know I probably won't make the light and can plan accordingly... might make a right turn on red or get in the left turn lane. Turning traffic always goes first in the sequence.

They can easily be taken down if there is a problem with accidents at this intersection.

That is the whole point though - to get you to slow down.

Yeah, I myself hate driving around these traffic calming devices, but I recognize their importance nonetheless.

It makes me drive even faster between them.....most of my road rage comes from our idiotic traffic signals and how (poorly) they are timed/programmed.

I know what you are syaing. Driving makes me angry too - so I stopped doing it. You don't see very many roadrage bicycle riders.

You have no idea, I would love to get rid of the car, at least every day use of it. Unfortunately this city doesn't provide me much of any other option right now. I don't trust our drivers enough to ride in the streets...most of the people I know despise bicycle riders because they make them change lanes....

Believe me when I say we're on the same page! At this point in time I am unable to pay to live downtown and the commute to where I work has no viable public transit to where I work or anywhere nearby. One of these days....my dream is to live in OKC without depending on a car someday!

One of the biggest adjustments I had to make once I moved from Oklahoma to Wichita was to get used to how much WORSE their traffic signals are operated. There are no sensors anywhere so you just sit at a light in the middle of the night for two minutes with no traffic. So... it could be worse.

You mean you just drive right through the red light when no one is around, right?

Reserved my unit the other day for a May 1 move-in. 3rd floor facing south, my view will be Aloft and part of the business district.

Congratulations! Would you be kind enough to post some photos when you move in? And possibly some updates on the Aloft construction from time to time? I'm jealous, would love to be moving downtown right now.

Oh definitely! I meant to take some pictures when I took the tour on Monday but was too occupied asking questions and taking it all in. Here's the one I managed to snap, it's a view from the balcony of unit 273, a floor below the actual unit I'll be renting. Notice how Aloft will be taking up most of the view especially since it'll be 7 stories, but hey, it's better than my current view in the 'burbs.

Not 100% sure but I think my view of Bricktown will be pretty well blocked by Aloft.

  19. Default Re: Level Urban Apartments

It will be. Only the units on the far west end will have views into Bricktown; right down Oklahoma Avenue.

  20. Default Re: Level Urban Apartments

Yeah, you'll just have to stare at some beautiful modern architecture and lots of people milling about the streets. Granted, it is understandably difficult to imagine an environment not defined by open range, especially with views from a Fourth Floor.

Nope. Was at the St. party's parade yesterday and you could easily see nearly ALL the south facing units. I think after LEVEL is built, many south facing will still have a good view. Either way, on their balconies they can still view the DT skyline, even if they can't see Brickrown.

  23. Default Re: Level Urban Apartments

Some of them will have a skyline view metro, but Bricktown views will be a memory after Aloft is completed, except in units on the west end of the development. Established via a property tour last week.

I'd rather have a DT skyline view than Bricktown any day.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I don't know about how it would be at night but when I went on the Level tour, Bricktown didn't really seem like much to look at from up on 2nd anyway.
