Thread: Central Market

    Default Central Market

Why has there never been any discussion about Central Market coming to the OKC metro area? I always liked it much more than Whole Foods Market and now that Whole Foods has moved in along with the multitude of other nice places (Sunflower Farmers Market, the new Uptown Grocery Co, and the smaller ones like The Meat Market et al), why not?

Central Market is part of the H.E.B. corporation based in Texas. H.E.B. only operates in Texas and Mexico. Central Market only operates in Texas.

    redrunner,
Simple question, simple answer. Thanks, I had no idea but it was strange that it hadn't been mentioned and appreciate you clearing it up. I suppose the moderators should close this thread.

    redrunner,
I should have also said how disappointing your answer was, I had hopes that maybe they would be looking at us for expansion since Whole Foods Market had moved in.

Yeah, by the looks of it they haven't been looking at regional or national expansion as of yet.

They had some stores in Louisiana about 5 years ago but sold them off to someone else and then started the Mexico venture. They are a privately held company so when they decide to expand they have a serious process when it comes to siting new stores.

We went to Central Market much more often than Whole Foods because it was closer to our house in South Austin and HEB was our regular grocery store. I wish we had both of them in Colorado and I know my dad liked HEB well enough to wish they were in OKC.

Actually there are numerous old threads discussing this topic, so to say we've never discussed it is simply inaccurate.

I LOVE Central Market. Not that Whole Foods is bad, it isn't. But man, you can't beat those fresh tortillas.

    metro,
I won't disagree with your comment about me being inaccurate but it would be nice to know all of the conversations on this site, and I don't. So, this won't be the first or last time I question something that has already been discussed.

I understand, but you stated why hasn't there been and there has. N one said you had to know them. Usually if you do a search or search google for OKCTalk and whatever topic, you'll find it. There are many of us that would love an HEB or Central Market

Yeah, Central Market is a planned stop for us at least once on every trip to Austin. We like eating out on the patio, drinking wine and listening to the live music.

FYI Metro/CT- (as discussed in previous threads) the search function in this forum's architecture sucks. The average person checking to see if a topic had been discussed would put "Central Market" in the search query - however, when I do that I get nothing helpful unless I want to click and started reading dozens of random threads.
