Thread: baseball memorabilia

    Default baseball memorabilia

Is there any place in OKC that does appraisals on baseball memorabilia? My brother gave me a baseball that has several autographs on it including Billy Martin and Al Kaline, both are in the Baseball HOF. There are many more on and I need them identified and appraised.

'The Old Ball Park' on NW 23rd used to do this. I'm not even sure they're still around. What a fun shop, though.

    Hi Roadhawg...

I was curious after your question and checked out 'The Old Ball Park'....looks like they moved to South Western just north of I-240.

Appreciate the info. I'm really curious who all these other names are. I'm not a big BB fan but I know who Billy Martin was lol

Gave them a call and they said they don't do appraisals on baseball memorabilia and didn't know anybody that did.

That's too bad. I know a collector who's really into the hobby. I'll ask him how he does it. Maybe it's all done on the web now?

Thanks... let me know what you find out. Weird a sports memorabilia shop doesn't appraise sports memorabilia.....

One of my sons managed The Old Ball Park for quite a few years, before moving into property management. They always had problems with people bringing in forgeries and getting upset when told, so they simply stopped entirely.

I can understand that. I'll try to find someplace else, may have to make a run down to the big D.

Well I found out I need to go through this place to get my baseball authentication and with a bunch of signatures it might cost a small fortune http://www.psacard.com/

I got some more info from that place. The total cost to have all the names identified and authenticated will be $150 plus shipping. Not bad considering what it might be worth if the signatures are real.

Might be a 1972-ish Detroit Tigers baseball. You should be able to find those early 70's Tigers rosters on the web. From that, you should be able to identify the other signatures. I'd guess the value to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $200.

I owned a sports memoriabilia shop from the late 80s until about 2002. During that time Les Springs was the manager of the Old Ball Park, sadly Les Passed away a few years ago and not long after that they sold the O B P to a married couple and they moved it south. To get a legitimate evaluation of a signature you would probably have to send it to one of the big name companies like PSA.
