The JR article said November, and a gazette article said December so I would guess any day now.

I would assume they're going to pave the parking lot in front. That hasn't happened yet, but there is a "now hiring" sign out front.

Went today at lunch with a group of guys. FREE food again today! We all did sliders and all different kinds. Also ordered several different french fry combos.

The new place has a great atmosphere. I imagine though its going to cost a fortune to keep the place warm. The only down side was they still have the slowest service in the city. I know its new, but considering the lack of urgency at their original location, I doubt things are going to get any better at the new location. We went knowing it would take awhile so we were mentally prepared. What really bugged us though was that there really weren't all that many people waiting to be seated (maybe 20 people), but we were told it would be 40 minutes and at all times there were empty tables all over the place. At one time there were four 4-tops open and 3 remained open for 13+ minutes. This is really annoying to patrons who'd at least like to sit down and talk with friends and sip on their soda.

The staff was very friendly though and sure enough, it took 45 minutes to get a table. Our order was taken immediately and the food arrived before we began looking at our watches.

All the sliders were really good, with special consideration given to the Elvis, Mushroom & Swiss and Colombian. All the fries were great too.

They were not promoting the free food at all, so we were pleasantly surprised when they said "its on the house today, can we also bring you some ice cream?"

I'm definitely excited about this place and will most likely visit occasionally. If you're on a tight lunch hour I'd avoid going during peak times.

Also, in all honestly, I'll probably visit this place more frequently than Tucker's and definitely more than Irma's. Both are great, I just like the slider option, more choices and atmosphere better at S&B's. I also like knowing that if I show up with a group we will be able to sit together. Not always a possibility at lunch at Tucker's.

Brian, keep in mind - the service is EXPECTED to have glitches, etc. - that's why your meal was free! They're not officially open - this is a pre-opening break-in for the staff, etc.

I mentioned above that I was aware it being a new opening it may be slow..... Problem is, the well established regular location is very slow without that as an excuse. Its not really a deal breaker unless you work downtown and have to get to there and back within an hour.

I'll be interested to see if what you've observed at their original spot holds true downtown.

That's the only reason the Misses didn't go with us (she works downtown across from the Skirvin). She figured she was out of luck time wise.

Urban Pioneer took these of the beer/drink menus:

I've mentioned on the board several times in the past that I am a big fan of the place. I've always known it the last few years as "The Burger Joint" because for the longest time that's all their sign at 59th and May said. You even have to look for the place as it's tucked away on the ground floor of an office building with very little signage. But boy, good burgers. (Check out the reviews on UrbanSpoon - most of course for the May location. But they're pretty raving.) I hope they have huge success with their new location.

By the way, they've ceased being a bar at night. The Burger Joint has been so successful they were hampered by the age restrictions after 7pm.

Is that visual smoke emanating from the lettering that says "joint" ?

We went there for lunch yesterday......we're not too adventurous when it comes to food but I had the Smokin' Okie and my wife had the same minus the jalepenos. I thought the burger was amazing and the BBQ sauce was spectacular. My wife loved the taste of the burger but it was too much for her to eat. We also had regular fries and fried onions and they were pretty blah. The service and the atmosphere was great, we will definitely be back soon.

Yes, LOL, it is kind of their subliminal theme.

That is why I always think the service, which is very friendly, can be a little slow or some may call it relaxed. haha
