Here's an article on the Denver Post site from a Denver based writer who saw the Lips at a club show in Aspen on December 27th then made the trip to OKC for the New Year's Eve show.

Does anybody know if Mick Cornett actually smokes weed or it was just a joke by Wayne?

Probably since someone decided that Rap music was actually music. There would be people in some music circles that consider opera to be chirping and howling. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I wasn't ahead of it's time in the 60s/70s when the world first heard of Yoko Ono and it isn't ahead of it's time now.

I dinna ever realize how little I cared for rap until some country artists started to work it into their lineup. Changing the genre dinna help it, not one lil bit.

I wonder if that was payback to his friends in high places for the Womb closing?

It could very well be payback but that doesn't make it untrue. I've long suspected him a toker getting familiar with him through the early days of the local access okc tv show on cox. That said, he's been a great mayor.
