Thread: Annoying Commercials of 2011

  1. Exclamation Annoying Commercials of 2011

It's that time of year again where we list the most annoying commercials of all time during the past year.

I can't think of everything, but here is a few that pops up as most disgusting.

MyCleanPC.com - Stupid, stupid, stupid! They are known scam and the media continues to approve it. The software tricked customers install are actually harmful spyware and always give fake results. One part of the commercial that makes me puke is the huge flashing red "VIRUS!" as if its the only reason for a slow computer. A typical scare tactic.

WesternSky.com - Disgusting and morally illegal! They have this "attractive" Indian woman speaking in a forcible way begging people to visit their website or call to get a loan of up to $1,000 within the next day. I checked out their website and they operates within some sort of tribal location away from government laws/regulations. If I understand it correctly, a loan of $1,000 is a $5,000+ repayment cost. The commercial runs at least 50x daily across numerous networks. This become worse during the holidays.

ShareACarol.com - A group of hippie kids running around the mall singing whatever holiday songs for three major retailers. There are two made commercials and both of them are at least 30 seconds. FCC requires all commercials at least 30 seconds to provide CC. These commercials never shown a single letter leaving millions of deaf people wondering what the heck are they singing. They also advertised excessively.

That is all I can think of for now. 2011 has been a really long year with thousands of different commercials. Start listing them all along with the reasons.

While there are so many annoying commercials to choose from I've narrowed my list to my all-time annoying commercial - and yes - its local one. The worst offender to common sensibility? DAVID STANLEY CHEVROLET/DODGE! Yes I write the name in CAPS because their annoying commercials SCREAM at us as though we've lost total hearing in both ears. I immediately mute the volume or change the channel when their commercials come on. Even if they were to give me a free automobile I wouldn't take it because I have such disdain for their commercials. Well - on second thought - I might take a free auto then donate to some charity....

David Stanley has thousands of known bad reviews and complaints. They cost numerous Oklahomans thousands of dollars, so your pick of their commercials is very excellent.

About the blaring volume, I think it has something to do with hidden digital codes. Everything we use today are all digital. I think somehow, there are codes set to increase our television volumes (even though the volume meters will remain visibly the same #). Could this be illegal as it invades and tap our personal properties to adjust during their commercials?

I cannot imagine what David Stanely's advertizing budget must be - it has to be huge! Evidently the money they spend for the most horrific commercials locally must be paying off for them. It sort of reminds me of the old Lynn Hickey Dodge commercials several years ago. Maybe really low class commercials bring in big money. Hey!! Maybe Congress should start producing low class commercials to somehow increase tax revenue? Naw...never mind...bad idea.

    Not to worry much longer.

    1) Nissan's "Most Wonderful Time (Sale) of the Year" commercial...seriously overplayed with annoying singing and dancing, to boot.

    2) All Swiffer commercials.

    3) Norman C-J-D ("high school" is two words), and pretty much every other local car dealership commercial (Megan and the Bob Moore spots get a pass...she was definitely built for skinny jeans!)

    1) Those wandering, drifty new-age music ads for various drugs whose possible side effects are a hundred times worse than whatever malady they are intended to treat.

    2) The Viagra commercial where he "fixes" an overheated car with a bottle of water from a desert convenience store.

    3) The "Class-Action" lawyer ads designed to address side effects of 1), above. (And, conceivably, the side effects of 2), above, as well.)

Thumbs up on Megan and Bob Moore commercials! I could watch her do those commercials all day long, and as often as they run them, I feel like I already do. That woman could sell sand to an Arab. ;-)

    Probably even wearing this . . .

    That's how good she is . . .

Except for that line "respectfully, Bob Moore". That makes no sense in the context of what she says. I have no idea what that is supposed to mean and it irritates me every time I hear it.

Would you like me to explain it, ljbab728?

    Respectfully, Jesse aka Thunder

1-800-2 Sell Homes. And please, don't put a chain around your dog's neck.

What kind of weird ad campaign is that? I mean, I agree, but you're trying to sell homes...
    Still corrupting young minds

Slightly off topic but there is a radio commercial I hear quite often. It's some guy singing a happy birthday song to some hospital. Oh no, it's "Happy 65th Anniversary J.D. MacArthey Center" I run to the radio if I am in the house to turn it off as soon as it starts up. Most annoying commercial, even if it has a good meaning behind it.

If I have to watch one of those Norman Chrysler Jeep & Dodge commercials one more time with the Thunder players singing "Nor-man, ooo-ooo-ooo-oo-oo-ooo." I may commit hari-kari. It is likely one of the most offensive commercials I've ever seen, and embarrassing. I cringe every time it comes on.

You remember the product though . . . Right? =)
Maybe you need some Elavil or Ambien . . .
(cue new-age drifty music as the fatal side-effects scoll across the screen)

Or, if you are a fan of A Prairie Home Companion, perhaps a simple increase in Catsup (a.k.a. Ketchup) consumption would do the trick.

LOL!!! Since I'm deaf, I want to ask you something. I'm good at sensing and knowing people's exact voices. Okay, in that commercial, the black dude singing "mile of cars" at the end, is he singing in kinda high pitch? Something like nearly high or on a singing note, I can't quite explain it.

    Respectfully,
    Thunder, ooo-ooo-ooo-oo-oo-ooo

If it's what I'm picturing in my head, yes, I believe he is singing in somewhat of a high voice. And as to the pitch of the singers, let's just say AutoTune would use up a lot of CPU power correcting those voices. Just sayin'. ;-)

Respectfully, Megan of the Kingdom of Bob Moore. :-)

Yeah, I just knew he was a high voice singer.

Being in the Ad Biz, it's probably upwards of a $100,000 a month budget. And yes annoying ads work in the car business unfortunately, although I agree it's cheap crap production that tears down the biz.

Surprised nobody mentioned the rapping d-bag in the Hyundai Holiday Commericial.

Last year they had some annoying hispters singing whimisically and prancing around in their skinny jeans.

So I guess playing horrible music in their commericals around the holidays is their MO.

The Dr. Pepper 10 commercial. Especially the part at the end where the guy looks and the camera, gives a thumbs up and says "catch-phrase!".

It makes me want to claw my eyes out.

The Geico caveman who will do anything to keep on geico-ing. Even if it's pandering to the cross dressing community ala the cheerleader outfit. Pretty much any insurance company that runs ads sucks and I won't do business with them.
OTOH, I love the NAPA Know-how ads. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHn6e-w4UXw

    Richardson Homes.
Apparently new, so technically in the top five for Annoying of 2012.
(Like some people still find The Train Horns of 2010.)
