This is another example of why we are so fortunate to have Wayne Coyne in OKC. He does so many things to bring great entertainment and diversity to our city.

Dont know if i consider Yoko Ono great entertainment. I wonder if she will be doing "the long and winding road".
Everyone has their own opinion about great entertainment and she isn't my favorite either. Sean Lennon is also with her and I enjoy him more. It's unlikely either would have appeared here on a New Years Eve without him. But my point wasn't just about this show. It's a combination of everything that he brings to our city which helps put us on the map a little better.
This also might be an appropriate time for this little ditty.
It'd be fun, but $100 for a ticket, no thanks.
Yeah, that's what made us decide not to go. And that the "Plastic Ono Band" is apparently now just a name and I have no desire to see the current members. :-( Does include an afterparty 'til dawn at his gallery, though, so that might be cool, not cool enough to pay $100 for, though. :-)
I've never thought Yoko had any talent what so ever and I've not seen anything that has changed my mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=461YhlP75wM
Kind of a stretch in my opinion. I've met him a few times and he's extremely nice and popular in some circles, but lets be realistic. Yoko is hardly relevant these days and the venue they are playing in maxes out at a measly 1,800 (KOCO reported 1,500) people and they've yet to sell out either night. Not to mention, Yoko will not be at the after party (or at least that's the word so far). Also, I'm already hearing what a bit*h Yoko is and the demands she has placed on her appearance. Which is a total opposite of Wayne.
I've said before that she is not a favorite of mine but she is still a "name" in the music business and the fact that she might appear here for New Years Eve is still a tribute to Wayne Coyne.
Also as I mentioned, I didn't start this thread just as a reference to this event but meant it more as a compliment to his influence on diversity in our city.
Yoko Ono single handedly broke up The Beatles.
(and for this i'm to pay a hundred dollars?)
This is a Happy Ending?
On the cusp of a New Year?
And "Flamming Lips" . . . (oy vey! gestalt!=)
Rumor has it that it ain't the Plastic Ono Band anymore . . .
It's The 100% Certified Botox Band.
Like I said: "Rumor"
Ref #4 VidKlip:
I am relieved to see (in retrospect) that Wayne Coyne and Co. improved enough for them to back up Beck--on Austin City Limits--a few years ago.
I trust that the video, above, had no connection with the tragic events that occured during a recent Zoo Release somewhere to the Northeast of Oklahoma. =)
(I have to admit that it was a "catchy" tune.
Reminiscent of some of Frank Zappa's earlier work . . .=)
Radical, no one is suggesting that you should spend any money at all to see someone you don't like. I wouldn't pay it either but, as I said, that wasn't the real point of my thread.
There are a lot of big name acts that appear in OKC that I wouldn't spend a dime to see. To each his own.
Well spoken.
So . . . Where is The Braum's . . . =)
On Your Planet . . . =)
And even Yoko Ono would object to the pronounscape "MyThread" . . .
Well . . . Wouldn't she?
I saw the flaming lips on new years night right after the San Francisco Zoo Christmas tiger attack

They didn't play the song (very appropriately), but in the back of my brain I hoped that they would. I still can't listen to that song without thinking I'm a bad, bad man.
I was ignoring the fact I don't like Yoko or the Flaming Lips' music....... My opinion was based on the fact that even if I loved both of them, can you really call it a big impact when on New Year's Eve the combined acts (not to mention a great opening band) can only secure a venue of 1,500 - 1,800 with an after party in a giant ****** (not Yoko's) and have yet to even sell out?
I went to more than 10 Flaming Lips concerts in high school--they are one of my favorite bands. The Flaming Lips were one of the only "Oklahoma City" things that I knew of when my company asked if I'd transfer down here a few years ago. I believe they do have a pretty positive impact on the city, even if this particular concert is not bring in lots of money.
14 of my friends came down for the NYE concert 2 years ago...
It sounds like it was a very interesting evening for those who attended. I also saw elsewhere that both performances ended up sold out.

I would have loved to have heard their version of "I am the Walrus" which is one of my Beatles favorites.
