    Edmond The Fair

    http://www.kfor.com/news/local/kfor-...,5530269.story

A dream come true! State fair food without the rides and heat!

Sounds fun, but I only see something like this surviving if located across the street from a high school with an open campus policy.

I was watching News Channel 4 at noon and Lance West was eating some food from here.

Also, thank you to whoever decided to establish this.

When I told my hubby about this place, the look on his face was like that of a 4 year old with a puppy under the Christmas tree!

This is getting widespread attention. I'm in LA for a few days and heard about this place on the local news here.

This concept can go two different ways - Store front resembling a fancy concession stand that is a step above the corn dogs and such served at dozens of gas stations throughout the south metro or all out and become a destination oddity.

I'd love to have seen the second option explored and had this place open in Bricktown in a very small space but going all out on decor with a carnival/fair theme throughout.

Not unlike the Big Top Candy Shop on S. Congress in Austin. http://www.dermandar.com/p/aEllEY/big-top-candy-shop I've always thought this place should be in Bricktown as it is done so much better than the candy place there now. You could easily combine this theme with a Pops soda theme and fair food.

Hope the Edmond couple makes it. The only reason I won't be going there is because I love that kind of food and it will blow my 1,500/day calorie limit.

Does it have the fair prices? It would also be nice if Lancy West would have posted a website.

    They are on Twitter too.

They apparently only take cash and only just recently got a phone number.

Nothing wrong with starting slowly, but I hope it isn't indicative of not much in the way of cash reserves to cover their bills and salaries until the place catches on.

    "Cash"? What is "cash"......?

Frankly, I'm surprised not to see roasted corn, those sausages with the peppers/onions and giant cinnamon rolls.

But since I don't know what "cash" is I guess it's a moot point.

To me part of the whole mystique of Fair food is the fact that you can only get it at the Fair and similar events.

    Excellent Point.
Not to mention the relative quality of the Corn Dogs, etc and that fact that the same grease shouldn't be used for Fried Snickers and Curly Fries.
(And the prices! Oy Vey! =)

Perhaps this is the tip of the iceberg of The Revenge of The Food Truck Operators
(on account of harassment by OKC code enforcement).

    Or not.

I apologize, in advance, for Double Posting . . .

Yet as I am--right now--putting together a shopping list for Downscale Grocery Shopping (at the nearby Buy For Less) in order to produce dinner tonight (Pork, Taters and Veggies) it crossed my mind that when The Fair takes off in Edmond, the first branch location should be out there on NE 23 at The Golden Goose Flea Market/Emporium/MiniMall.

That way the entire "Fair" motif could more accurately actualize itself.
(I could be wrong, but I'm not sure that Edmond is noted for its "Fairness"
Other than hosting that Scottish Fair a few years ago with all the bagpipes,
    fried candy bars, and deep-fried haggis . . .) . . .

    I agree.

I was hoping they would do strawberries newport or my son suggested the turkey legs. I'm not into all the fried foods, but love Indian Tacos. Can't wait to try that one.

In that connection, I hope they have an extra grungy sidewalk and some surly, overly-officious-temp, parking lot attendants . . .
    (If they don't have the Drill Spiral Cut Whole Potato Fries . . . Well . . . What's the point of making the drive? . . . )

Last night I attended a birthday dinner at Deep Fork. While waiting for our dinner selections to arrive--and enjoying the FABULOUS appetizers that we were apparently "comped" by the management--the table talk turned to "The Fair (Restaurant)" in Edmond. Although I know that the food selection enumerated by one of the participants went far beyond what is actually available, the general consensus was "Yum!!!" (Please be advised that I said "general" response.)

I'm glad that Deep Fork was the actual choice for the dinner.
(The Orange Roughy with the Risoto was one of the best meals I've ever had. I don't think that putting it on a stick, then battering and re-frying it would have been an improvement.)
