This thread is really funny. Its a practice facility. What does it matter where it is? Who cares where the players live? Its about what happens on the court on game day.

I also don't think its a big deal for the practice facility to be along Broadway Extension. That thoroughfare looks pretty down-on-the heels in that stretch and is in just as much need of "infill" as Downtown. A warehouse-like practice-facility is not as important to the future of Downtown as some high-quality mixed-use residential/commercial/office would be in the same location. Just my opinion.

I believe the offices at the Ford Center will be front office/sales/etc type jobs -- the ones that are currently in Leadership Square. The ones at the practice facility are team related (coaches/trainers/equipment/etc).

Interesting. I knew his wife was from here. I guess they just moved. I thought it was odd because they did a lot of work to the property, and then it was up for sale (in fact, I think it still is).

My camera isn't in working order but I drove by there last weekend and they were working on the landscaping. I assume that means it's about ready to open......just in time for a lockout (hope not, actually). It looks good from the exterior. Hopefully someone will post photos soon.

It was mentioned at some point leading up to the campaign/during the campaign for the Ford tax that the Practice Facility would be exclusive NBA use. Then it was reported that it would be nearly exclusive, that the City could use it when the team wasn't (like in the off season). Major construction was completed just prior to the lock-out. Does anyone know if it has been utilized for anything yet (since it was taxpayer funded)? What about the temporary practice Facility? During the lock-out would seem like the perfect opportunity to have a community open-house or some type of event(s)?

I read that the temp facility would now be used for Thunder Girls practice facility among other things, like kids basketball camps.

I drove by the Temp Facility on Wednesday night and there were several cars there. I don't think they had opened up facilities to the players yet, but it was being used by someone.
