What is Coits?
What is Coits?
I have heard that Coits is up for sale all 3 locations and that a sale has been or is in process of happening. The Coits name will not be part of the sale so the buyer if they continue to operate them as food places they will not bear the Coits name.
I wonder what will become of the Root Beer recipe?
The prices went up to the point that they have lost my business. $7.25 for a small hotdog and small onion rings is way too much.
Im just guessing actually. I got a root beer there earlier today and before i even opened the lid i could smell the extra vanilla.
So yes its probably A&W with some extra vanilla and a frosted mug.
Sad to hear. As I posted over in the linked story, have eaten many meals there. Great breakfast and their Chicken Enchilada soup was excellent (made by Ben E. Keith).
In 2005 is when the Diesel fuel and gas both sky rocketed!! Coit's thought a fuel sur-charge was unfair, so they quit selling Chtistmas trees! Everyone else just adjusted their prices! Went to Coits since 1954 and enjoyed it. They have become so run down, nasty and such I'm surprised the Health Dept. hasn't shut then down. But in truth they have always operated on dirt cheap child labor and are so OVER priced now that it's not worth my time. I say good riddance and "out with old & in with the new." Just my opinion...... Not up for debate - just how I feel....
For those of you that went to the Coits meetings, I just learned that John Daniel Hendrickson of 2612 S. Lee passed away this afternoon.
His wife contacted me and wanted to let people know.
What was John's name here at OKC Talk?
His user name was PapaOU.
Going to miss him he had many great stories of the Capitol HIll area and was a huge supporter of the CHHS football and basketball teams.
May he rest in peace
This is such sad news, may god be with him and his family.
Sorry to hear about PapaOU. He shared a lot of his southside memories with many of us at the Coit's meetings. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his CHHS alumni friends. RIP John.
I don't know the circumstances; his wife just contacted me and asked that I let people know.
Are these meeting`s being held in another place now?
