Thread: Stan Case (formerly KEBC) of CNN Has Died

  1. Default Stan Case (formerly KEBC) of CNN Has Died

Back when KEBC had a solid radio news department in the eighties (the only FM with a full-time news staff), what made it so good was Stan Case. So good, that CNN snatched him up. Stan has died in a car accident. I knew Stan back when he was in Oklahoma City and knew him as not only a great journalist, but as a great intellect as well. He had a law degree, knew current affairs backwards and forwards...just a great guy. It's so very sad.

  2. Default Re: Stan Case (formerly KEBC) of CNN Has Died

Just found out Stan was with his wife, Angie, driving back to Oklahoma to spend Thanksgiving with Stan's family. A truck crossed the center line and hit Stan's car head-on. Angi is still in the hospital.

More information on Stan from CNN...I've bolded Oklahoma references:

Stan Case is a news anchor for CNNRadio Network and is based at CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta. He also anchors for Headline News. Prior to joining CNNRadio in 1985, Case was with KEBC Radio in Oklahoma City. From 1979-1985, Case served as capitol correspondent at KEBC for two years, reporting on all aspects of state government, including legislative debates and agency activities in addition to the station's award-winning election coverage.

Case has been recognized for his journalistic excellence both at the local and network level. In 1991, he and the CNNRadio staff shared the Ohio State Award for Excellence for their coverage of the Persian Gulf War. The Oklahoma Associated Press Broadcasters have honored him on numerous occasions.

Case is a past president and a charter member of the Oklahoma City News Broadcaster's Association. The group was founded to promote journalistic ethics and protect First Amendment rights.

Case received his bachelor's degree from Central State University in Edmond, Okla.
He holds a law degree from Georgia State University College of Law and is a licensed attorney in Georgia.

Default Re: Stan Case (formerly KEBC) of CNN --- MEMORIAL

A memorial service for Stan is planned in Prague on March 10, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Way Church. If you know any of Stan's old work friends who might like to attend, please tell them. An opportunity to share memories or "Stan stories" is planned during the service. Thank you. (Stan's wife is just now well enough from the accident to have the "celebration of life" service.)
    His sister, Linda
