I think they are in the process of fire-proofing the steel in the crown.

I didn't realize there is yet more color-changing LED lighting in the water feature next to the cafe-to-be:

From a few days ago... Prep work for the skating rink.
This is going to be such a cool scene, especially with the park all decorated for the holidays. I hope Devon does something on their tower even though the full lighting won't be complete for a while.

Already pretty much have it done. Was walking through yesterday. I agree about the scene, much better IMO than the City Hall one.
How much bigger did it look than the Braums one?
Looks smaller, to be honest.
No it looks much bigger IMO
The one by city hall? Is that the one we are comparing to?
Looking at the dark space, yes its so mini. LOL
Picture of the skating rink from tonight.

Thanks shawn!
Looks pretty big to me.
Myriad Gardens will look beautiful this holiday season. ALL of downtown will, even with the construction. Especially because of the construction!
I didn't realize the one near the civic center was this large.
If you've ever seen the famous one in Rockefeller Center, it's tiny! About a quarter of this size.
Also, there are a few out her in Southern California and they are also very small and almost always packed with people. No real skating can be done, just packs of people shuffling along.
That's a bit disappointing if it's the same size or smaller than the Braums rink by the Civic Center. When it got busy there that one gets packed. I was thinking this one would be a bit bigger.
Wait, really? The one in NYC is a quarter of the size of the Braums one we had by the Civic Center? Surely not.
Here's the Braums one: http://imaginativeamerica.com/wp-con...01_braums1.jpg
I exaggerated but it's not that big and always packed.
And ones out here are very small.
The one in OKC looks like it's about this size of a regulation hockey rink.
There's no way it's the size of a regulation hockey rink. Maybe about half. It's extremely hard to tell from the pictures, but having walked by it a few different times it is much smaller.
I think the MBG rink is comparable to the Civic Center rink, but perhaps SLIGHTLY smaller. Neither of them anywhere near the size of a regulation hockey rink, but I don't think you'd want them to be. MBG rink seems just right in size, I think.
But Pete's right; the Rockefeller Center rink space is shockingly small in person.
I can tell you from experience that the CC rink was 62 x 150. Not sure how large the new one will be. Wondering why it is hot pink. Maybe that is a cover? I kind of like it!
Kim, I think that pink stuff is the tubing that runs beneath the ice. The ice isn't in place in that pic.
Thanks Kim!
For comparison a regulation hockey rink is 85 x 200.
The Rockefeller Center rink is 59 x 122.

If it is bigger than this, it will be great.
My wife and I were married at the Myriad Botanical Gardens, October 16th 1999. I absolutely LOVE the changes that have taken place downtown. We are absolutely taking the right path in the fact that we have the advantage of being a young state and therefore get to see how other cities have adopted to their changes and stay ahead of the emerging technology and lifestyle. Good on you Oklahoma.
