Okay I may get reamed for this question, but does anyone know if they will be selling alcohol at the concert? Would love to be able to drink a couple cold ones while watching Pat Green play

According to the website for the event, the beer and wine garden open at noon. Cash only.

Here is a video Victory church recently shot at the MBG. I also recently shot a commercial at MGB for my company as well. It's going to make a great backdrop for production pieces.

    Doing a 180

The Myriad Botanical Gardens project takes a major step in redefining downtown OKC.

My mistake. I attempted to embed the nice KFOR video posted by ljbab728, above, ... http://www.kfor.com/videobeta/0879f9...Myriad-Gardens ... but the embed didn't work. Good to see something descriptive other than as produced by the Oklahoman.

FritterGirl, do you know if people are allowed to bring personal coolers? Friends are saying they have heard that is allowed but I don't believe them.

We went down to the opening festivities last night. We wanted to get there during the afternoon so we could enjoy more of it, but it just didn't happen. The entire park is really nice. I can't wait to go back and take the dog to the dog park. We really enjoyed sitting on the lawn listening to Pat Green. Very nice evening.

    I'm surprised there's no pictures.

There will be. Just haven't uploaded them to the City's flickr account yet. Too many to sort through, and am, waiting for the card reader for the second camera. Give us a bit, please!

I figured in due time that the Flickr page would have pics up, I just didn't relay that or what I was specifically thinking of which was from other posters on here.

Landscaping already seems so much more mature after just one season. Anyone else who's been in the park a lot more think that is the case?

Sooo impressed with all the changes... This is one of those rare occasions where the end project far exceeds expectations.

It goes to show the advances made in landscape architecture in just the last 20 years. There are more talented people involved in that field and the good ones can make an amazing difference.

It also gives me optimism for the SandRidge / Kerr Park areas, Centennial Park, Central Park, the smaller park at Devon and the entire Project 180.

But even independently, these improvements at the Myriad Gardens are a game-changer for downtown and OKC. It really gives people another place to go / hangout other than just Bricktown. I really look forward to the cafe opening, although I respect their desire to be patient and selective.

I uploaded about 215 shots today. The batch messed up during the upload process, so the order in which I had batched them, as well ast the tags, and some descriptions are off. I will need to go redo those tomorrow.

Pete, I just finished uploading the second part of the batch, so there are more than those you just saw. Some of my favorites are of the children's fountain, and there are some I took of the Seasonal Plaza with the reflection of the Colcord and First National buildings in the water reflection that are pretty cool.

Overheard while standing at the Children's Fountain after they turned on the rain cycle for the first time: "Today is another defining day for Oklahoma City." Based upon the attendance and enthusiasm expressed by many of the folks who came, I'd say that's about right.

Definitely worth the time taken to get it together! I hope to get back up there again this weekend for some more soak it in time.

    "Defining day ..." Yep. Absolutely.
Way back when... I got some flack from some for when I first reported on the creation of Project 180 and suggested it would rival MAPS in terms of impact on downtown... the relaunch of the Myriad Gardens is partially why I said what I did. Add to this changes ahead for Bicentennial Park, the addition of several hundred curb side parking spaces, bicycle lanes, reconstruction of downtown streets and other small touches that won't be fully appreciated until they are done... and hopefully you can see what I was seeing.

Yes, I remember that Steve and I believe you are slowly being proven right.
