Ketchup

I saw someone on here (can't remember who) misspelling "ketchup" a day or two ago.

Anyway, thought I'd share this news. Have anyone come across these yet? Any reviews?

Some people rip off the corner of the packet with their teeth. Others, while driving, squirt the ketchup directly into their mouth, then add fries. Some forgo fries at the drive-through all together to keep from creating a mess in the car.

LOL?! I think the ketchup package we have been using for decades are perfectly fine. With this new packaging product, it will cost the businesses more money to order, because of the size and amount is bigger plus the time and money spent on development.

How did they misspell it? There is more than one way.

I don't see it as being that much different than the containers for the dipping sauces. Think that is the kind What-a-burger has been using for several years now. Yeah it costs more but you are getting more too, the smaller the package the more cost per once goes up. Look at it this way, if you take all of the packaging that it takes to get the equivalent amount in the cup, they may be about the same cost wise. the only 'savings' is when you only need the amount in the smaller sized package. But think about it, how many packages do you use on an order of fries. How many does the average person use?

There are issues with many products if you get them at the drive thru and try to consume them in your car, made worse if you try to do it while driving.

A couple of years ago McDonald's tried to solve the problem with low drive thru salad sales by putting them in a cup instead of the more bowl-like container. Took a few years of development and it failed. If it had worked, McDonald's could have cut there food costs in about half, because they had less surfce area to cover....nothing but lettuce...LOL IIRC, they were charging the same amount.

Ever try to eat hotcakes while driving? Burger Kings answer was to make theirs into french toast sticks that you could dip (nugget style) instead of having a knife and fork.

Quick Google would show you the history behind the different spellings.

"Ke-tsiap" or "Kecap" was the original name from Asia.
"Catchup" was the first recorded English version in 1690.
"Ketchup" appeared in 1711.
"Catsup" appeared in 1730.

Ketchup or Catsup?

When Heinz introduced commercial ketchup to American kitchens it became so popular that other manufacturers rushed to catch-up to the ketchup craze. Soon there were Ketchup, Catsup, Catchup, Katsup, Catsip, Cotsup, Kotchup, Kitsip, Catsoup, Katshoup, Katsock, Cackchop, Cornchop, Cotpock, Kotpock, Kutpuck, Kutchpuck and Cutchpuck. All were tomato based and bottled and vied to become a household word. Only 3 major brands remained to steal the spotlight...Heinz Ketchup, Del Monte Catsup, and Hunts, who could not decide on a spelling and bottled under the names Hunts Catsup (east of the Mississippi), Hunts Ketchup (west of the Mississippi), and Hunts Tomato Cornchops (in Iowa only). In the 1980's ketchup was declared a vegetable by the government for school lunch menus. Suddenly Del Monte's Catsup, because of its spelling, was not on the approved list. Shortly afterward Del Monte changed the product's name to Del Monte Ketchup. So ketchup it is.
