So much for the whole "If Sandridge is still in business..." junk in this thread. Can you imagine the momentum with Sandridge AND Continental both growing their workforces downtown along with Devon? Unbelievable.
I think this thread deserves a bump based on recent news. Some funny stuff in this thread as well.
What was the recent news?
Never mind... I just read the other thread.
The article's title is deceiving. It says the building will be as tall as their current 29 story building but if you read the article all the way through it says the building will not be as tall as the current building. Either way, it is good to see more development.
Never mind... after re-reading it, I was wrong.
Can't wait to see the renderings. Article does mention shorter than the current building, but comparable in size (square footage I assume).
Any timeframe on construction?
I think it would be neat if a tower identical to SandRidge Center was built. I know it would be a not-so-modern look, but there's something about the current tower that really intrigues me. But that's just me.
I'm still not confident that if I choose to document the construction process of this building, I won't have some dude in a SandRidge polo shirt and bluetooth headset follow me around and telling me I can't record what they're doing.
Good news for downtown! Sorta makes all the Sandridge haters look silly now...actually they looked silly then but especially now.
Will be interesting to see what the architects come up with. The current trend is all-glass, but it needs to complement the current tower and its neighbors.
Maybe something like this: http://www.socketsite.com/archives/2...thout_its.html
From newsok.com does "...facing Broadway between Robert S. Kerr and Dean A. McGee Avenues" mean it will be where the Chase Bank is right now?
So, are they planning on taking all the tiles out of Couch park and have it grassy?
It's next to SandRidge HQ. Between the tower and Broadway.
From my understanding, the building will be equal in square footage to the tower, but will spread from Robt. S. Kerr to Dean McGee, and will be estimated to be around 10-15 stories tall. Will be roughly the same depth as the current building and parking garage there, only taller.
And yes, they plan on pulling all of the tiles in Kerr Park and making it more level, grassy, with some walkways.
Talked to my neighbor again and asked him for the hundredth time if there are still rummors of that "monster" tower floating around in his construction circle, and he said yes it is talked about even more at the moment and his higher ups told him to be on stand by right after Devon is done! Now,take it for what it's worth,it's just a rumor!
When you walk away, listen for chuckling.
I previously noted in one thread or another I'd be as happy or happier with three 300 foot towers as one 900 foot tower.
This sounds close enough for happy horseshoes, so two more to go.
A friend of mine, who just happens the be the person I bought my house from, and who also happens to be the adopted son of Tom Ward (look my house up on county assessor and look at the previous owner if you don't believe me!!), says the tower could be as high as 20 stories, but will likely be more in the range of 10-15, since it's being built on such a large footprint.
Actually, and this is just pure speculation, but your neighbor may be referring to a hoped-for conference hotel, which I suspect will be taller than the new SandRidge tower.
And I don't know if I'd really call the new Sandridge building being proposed a "tower." Since it will have such a large footprint, it likely won't be a tower, in the sense of the current Sandridge tower, which is more narrow and tall.
