Maybe they are going to spell Devon using the LED lights. I suspect there will also be very prominant ground level signage considering a fair amount of the building will be open to the public.

I'm not sure why anyone would be "saddened" that the skyline of OKC is so much shorter than the NYC skyline was with the WTC towers, or will be with the new WT1 (Freedom Tower). Maybe "saddened" refers to the great loss of WTC? Those buildings are massive by any standard. They were the largest in the world for a quarter century. The new one will be the tallest building in the western hemisphere. And it's NEW YORK, fercryinoutloud.

Devon Tower would create a sensation in ANY U.S. city OTHER than NYC or Chicago. It would be tied for the 10th tallest building in NYC (a city with hundreds of skyscrapers), with the iconic (and huge compared to its neighbors) GE Tower at 30 Rockafeller Center. It vaults OKC (the 31st largest population) into the top 11 skylines by height in the U.S. It is a VERY respectable building by any standard outside of Asia and the Middle East.

There is literally nothing - ZERO - to be embarrassed about when it comes to Devon Tower.

William, you provide awesome pictures! I showed Taz the latest and all he could say (or do) was wag his lil tail. He likes it!

The building doesn't seem out of scale at all from certain angles, especially Deep Deuce and from Bricktown. It only completely dominates when viewing the entire skyline from far away, especially looking at it from the north and south.

We are 28th in population not 31st. As of 2010 census.

I saw different information online. I'd love to see a link to your info so I could quote that number with confidence. Nevertheless, that's a minor issue to quibble over. My point is still valid; for even the 28th-largest city to have the 11th-tallest skyline is hardly an under-achievement.

This table shows the MSA of Oklahoma City to be 44th. Makes the point even more salient.

^^He is going by the city population only, some lists' have OKC as the 28th largest city but these lists' leave out consolidated city/county cities like Nashville,Louisville and Jacksonville,If OKC used city/county consolidation it would have a population of roughly 740,000 and our pop. density would be even lower!Urbanized you are correct,OKC is the 31st largest city and 44th largest metro both by population!

I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about state population rank. Sorry, my mistake.

Actually they were the tallest in the world for 2 years when Willis tower surpassed them in Chicago

Well crap. Duh, you're right. Tallest buildings in NYC for a quarter century.

My girlfriend and I were trying to compare the Devon Tower to the Twin Towers to her 11 year old son. Now I can use these renderings as a reference!
I think it is 7 WTC that you are referring to, it is in fact a long building, that's the skinny side that's shown however. But thanks!

Agree or disagree with him, Shadid is really getting after it as a council member. Nothing is getting by this guy...

Why can't local media get it right? No public incentives were used to lure CR to OKC. The money is for expansion AFTER they get here. They could just as easy add those new jobs in Enid where they will have 2 vacant office buildings.

I have posted the following in the forum in the past: Shadid is tired of being a Doctor and is tired of living in OKC. He wants to be elected to Congress or the Senate and live in Washington, DC. Expect him to seek out every opportunity he can get to be in the newspaper or on TV.

Evidence? That makes no sense. Why wouldn't he just move? I'm calling BS. I'm just happy that we have someone that actually studies issues and asks tough questions. Not just a yes-man for the Momentum crowd.

I don't know anything else on this issue other than what you just stated here, but if the City said they will give this company 7 million dollars to expand if they move to OKC then that is an incentive. And... just realized this is way off topic for this thread.

Not to stray too far from the topic, but OKC has an existing Quality Jobs program that is seperate from the state program. No incentives were used to lure CR to OKC; the incentives are to encourage CR to locate their 400 or so NEW jobs in OKC. The incentives are available to every company that meets the requirements of the program. The program is working exactly as designed.

I'm sure it is, but it's hard to see the progress right now... Probably why we're off topic... I wonder where they're at on the interior?
