Thread: Food Trucks

I think the Northwest Expressway & MacArthur Pancho's location opened up around that time.

    Larry,
There were two, one on the South side near I-240 and Penn and the one I went to for lunch once in a while at Casady Square on Britton and Penn. I believe they both closed down permanently in the early 80's. They opened at least one and I believe two in the late 80's or early 90's. One was next door to Hertz on Northwest Expressway. They built the structure and it has been many things since. I believe it is an Indian buffet now. By the way, when I said "shut down" I didn't mean permanently, just to get their health problems resolved. The trouble was, the damage was done in the public eye and Pancho's couldn't draw flys from then on. Oops, maybe flys is the wrong choice of words since the inspectors found feces in too many places, and that was why they were shut down.

CT, you are correct about the "new" ones that came back after leaving. The one on I-240 is still there. The one on NW Expressway is in front of what used to be a Wal-mart before they relocated it to both ends on NW Expressway (Council and Belle Isle over 10 years ago). The one on southside has an old Pancho's newspaper ad and seems like it said it used to somewhere be on 39th? Had the address written down so I could drive by and place it but lost it. Will try to remember to write it down again when I go to panch'os next...hmmm, I haven't eaten lunch yet. LOL

I can't ever remember seeing a Pancho's back then, that is the road we always took when we visted my grandparents in Bethany. Of course back then the only all-you-can eat Mexican place that I knew of was the original Casa Bonita at 39th & Portland (1968 - 1993). The only other eating place I distinctly remember along 39th back in the day was Roy Rogers (think the building is still standing and a Chinese place).

Not familiar with the one that used to be at Cassidy Square (but not in my usual haunts)

    Sorry about derailing the thread....

I'm not about to read this entire thread. I've heard of a Waffle Truck that's
very good. Anybody know about it?

I've eaten at it three times - all while it was parked in a vacant lot on NW 23rd.

Was not impressed at all on the first visit. The 2nd and 3rd were okay to good. Not really a big fan of my lunch wrapped into a waffle. Would probably be great around 2:30am after leaving a club. I wouldn't go on my own, but when I'm with a group and they wanna go then I don't argue against it.

Urban Spoon has some good insights and it has a good rating..... http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/46/16273...-Oklahoma-City

I wanted to visit La Gumbo Ya Ya last night but it was gone before I could
make it. NW 32 and MacArthur.

Off the Hook was closed due to some upset business owners. They were at
    N Penn and W Memorial.

Best bet is to follow food trucks on Twitter for their daily location. No Twitter, no problem, you can still visit their Twitter URL's without having to have an account.

There is a taco truck that parks at 39th Exp & Portland. But to be honest I've only ate there once and wasn't impressed.

Bad news from Heo's. They had posted earlier that they would not be serving this season and then today this was posted to their FB page.

"We're putting the business/truck up for sale! please contact us if you or anyone you know may be interested. thanks!"

I sure am going to miss their food.

Heo's was one of my favorite trucks. There are a handful in the metro that I look for before deciding whether or not to go to an outdoor event - they were at the top of my list.

Same here... Any time I knew they were parking over at Dunlap Codding for lunch. I would walk over there and get a couple of Vietnamese Tacos and a kabob.

Are there any non Mexican food trucks west of N. May and south of NW 50th?
It seems to me that they are all Mexican, which I like very much. I want
    something different.

Not that I know of. Most of the non-taco trucks don't have a set location and move from event to event. Your best bet is to follow them on twitter.
