Thunder, just an fyi, the health department folks do go out to the fair and check out appropriate vendors before the fair opens and throughout the run of the fair. And sometimes, a food vendor or other vendor can get closed and/or cited if there are health violations.

And, your hyperbole aside, I'm fairly sure there's no need to organize any burial schedule.

Kevin, these moronic agents acted on their jealousy! They did nothing prior the event. They waited to make sure thousands of people already showed up before the marched down the streets with their guns drawn. I'd say they were attempting to spark a widespread riot. They were not invited, so they felt the need to shut everything down. That is how they felt. Their fault for not being a member on here to know upcoming events. What comes around...comes around.

The day you threaten death to city agents over health violations is the day you need to be controlled. SERIOUSLY CONTROLLED. That is an irresponsible statement or worse.


If there were indeed violations then it is not the fault of the agents, it is the fault of those who aren't following the rules. This is nonsense when the guilty blame the enforcers instead of taking responsibility. The organizers and participant vendors know the rules and should follow them. If they didn't then the facts of how they got caught is irrelevant.

This reminds me of the women who were caught shoplifting this week and blamed the store for not having good enough security. They looked stupid or crazy, or both. Don't join that club.

I was there when the blue shirt mafia showed up to shut things down. Everything coming out of everyone's mouth was licenses and the trucks either not having their own electricity or the cords going to the trucks being too small. The really bad part was the attitude of the city employees. They really seemed unsympathetic and to get a high from the power they had.

They were probably just following the marching orders given to them by others who wanted this shutdown...this was directed by officials much higher up than the agents with the boots on the ground. More than likely it is donors to whoever directed this to happen are the ones that pushed for it....just like some of the things that happened here in Austin in the early days of the food trailer phenomenon.

After seeing this thread I made a call to someone I know in the area that is in the same type of business. What I was told was that a group of eating establishments had got wind of this event and made a complaint to city inspectors. Don't know what the complaint was other than they were afraid of this hurting their own business.

This is almost as funny as the multiple pics in the jokelahoman the other day with the guys rapelling out of helicopters in swat uniforms demonstrating how they raid pot fields. At least we know in our big league city we will be kept safe from food trucks and pot fields.

I think most large media companies, or smaller local companies owned by larger media giants, ALL do "work". You know, asking questions and getting the job done. Lol. Because it is a JOB. I'm really going to have to wait till more information comes out next week to have a foundation for an informed opinion. But, that said, my knee-jerk reaction is that this was an orchestrated raid because they knew the could and would find violations.

My understanding was that some but not all of the licensing requirements had been met (this isn't a food safety issue, this is a paperwork and money issue in most cases as these were licensed food vendors). I also specifically saw an inspector point out that the trucks had not brought their own electricity source (generators) and instead were using extension cords to draw power from Elemental Coffee. The reason given was because the generators make alot of noise and there are residences next door. The inspector told them the extension cords were not the right gauge (sp). Again, I don't see this as a direct food health concern.

As far as liquor - I have no idea what was going on or if there were any violations. I hardly drink, so it wasn't a concern of mine.
