You must not have gotten around in Chicago. But to each his own.

My point is well taken (and received, hopefully).

Got around in and out of, the best was leaving.

Well, Im sorry to hear that.

But like I said, to each his own; and that does not diminish the fact that Chicago is the best all around big city in the US, hands down!

and the fact that OKC can learn much from them!

I didn't know the Flaming Lips were from Norman.
They're not. They're from OKC. They played a lot in Norman in the beginning, due mainly to Norman's early punk-rock scene, but they played a lot in OKC as well, at places like the legendary Bowery club.

Wayne and Michael both grew up in near-Northwest Oklahoma City. Wayne still lives in the Classen Ten-Penn neighborhood.

As for films, I can't believe no one mentioned the uber-cool Fearless Freaks, about the Lips. It was almost entirely filmed in OKC, and has literally brought strange pilgrimages of Lips fans to OKC to check out the locations.

Saw the documentary last year! Excellent film and beat my expectations. A great insight to the local underground scene!
