We spoke to the fellow who was making sure that people didn't walk into the Devon construction area and we talked about this and that. When the topic came to the restaurant levels (above, shown as two), he said that only one level was for restaurants. Now, whether he knew what he was talking about I don't know.

Perhaps this has been discussed before in this thread but I don't want to plow through 291 pages to find out. Can anyone quickly enlighten a lazy old fart like me ... one restaurant level or two?

On another note, we talked about the working elevators ... he said that after they reach a certain floor (43rd-45th, I forget exactly) that they get rather wobbly. Man, I don't think my heart could stand it, not to mention the vertigo effect! Wowza. The lower non-tower portions (rotunda and to the west) are simply stunning, as, of course, is the entire project.

49th and 50th floors will be the restaurant.

Thanks, Steve. I can't wait to see the view.

I think part of the confusion over the restaurant space is that one floor may be for the restaurant and the other for banquet/event space, similar to the Petroleum Club.

Nope, but I have purchased tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of advertising in phone books a year, so I do know a little what I'm talking about. Didn't purchase any Yellow Pages advertising this year. Phone books are all but dead, many cities are dropping them all together and most all cities will within 2-3 years and go to an all online format.

I suspected as much. They will be booked all year for wedding receptions and non-Devon events, not to mention occasional Devon company functions.

The Petroleum Club has been able to hang in there during even the darkest times and seems to be booked solid these days. I suspect there is strong demand for such space for weddings and various functions, especially as OKC and downtown continues to grow.

But Nichols has said this will be open to the public, so a different and more open model than the Petroleum or Beacon Clubs.

Also, if you notice on the cut-away of the top floors, you'll see one elevator only stops at the two restaurant/banquet floors. Nichols had also said that there would be a restaurant entrance separate from the Devon employee elevators and thus outside the security used for business visitors.

Will we be able to access these floors for a simple scroll through and enjoy the view outside? I'd like to take some pictures.

If you plan on eating lunch or dinner, or maybe just having a couple drinks at the bar.

If you've ever been to the Signature Room at the 96th floor of the John Hancock tower in Chicago it is also two levels with a dedicated elevator and entrance separate from the ones used by employees/residents in the floors below. There is a fine dining restaurant on the first floor (the 96th) with a two story dining room and then a bar/lounge and some meeting rooms/event space on the floor above (the 97th). Very popular place, especially for tourists. I recommend it if you're in Chicago for the views alone.

It doesn't appear there will be an outside area at Devon open to the public...is that correct?

If you are going there opt for the drinks at the Signature Lounge, I have been to the Signature Room for dinner and the meal was OK, just wasn't anywhere worth the amount spent. There are much better restaurants in Chicago in the same price range.

dmoor82, very nice and shocking find. I can't believe people out there are posting pictures and graphics without sharing on this official forum/thread.

Agree, just go for drinks or maybe an appetizer, you can work your way over to the window as people leave, usually --- my favorite place to stay is just down the block at the Drake Hotel.

Was talking to a friend who is an electrician working on the Devon tower. He said that the restaurant will be 2 floors, lower one for the kitchen and upper one for the guests. He also said that there is no 48th floor on the tower. It does however have a 13th floor. 49 and 50 will be the restaurant, 51 will be mechanical, and 52 will be the roof top.

That is where we stayed during our honeymoon.

No 48th floor, why? I find that hard to believe. There is a 48th floor. Devon shouldn't "lie" on that. Since there is a 49th, 50th, 51th, and 52nd, there is obviously a 48th in order to reach those higher floors.

Doug, I assume he was talking about the construction elevators on the outside of the building? I agree that would be akin to a thrill ride at an amusement park.

I went out there 1am to walk around and do some pictures. I was using an app to enhance the night light, but in that app, I forgot to check the settings. Found out when loading the pictures onto the comp, the file sizes are a lot smaller. >_< And that means lesser quality. :'-(

Yes there is a "48th" floor. But from what i am told when you get on the elevator and press a button there will be no 48 button. But there will be a 13 button. Most high rises have no 13th floor because of superstitions. The Devon tower apparently will not have a 48.

Article in today's Journal Record about the crown construction.

Could someone with a membership please post it?

    I heard there wont be a 4th, 8th, 15th, 16th, 23rd or 42nd floor, so I don't know what you all are talking about ;-)

I had also been told there will be no 48th floor. Perhaps so the restaurant could be labeled 49 & 50?

The mechanical floor (not the crown) will be the 50th level but labeled 51.
