Thread: I'm looking for a specialty Beer Store.

  1. #1

Default I'm looking for a specialty Beer Store.

Specifically, liquor stores that specialize in beer or cater to beer aficionados. I know there's places like Byron's that have "large" selections, but I'm looking for stores that have a more selective or curated selection. I'm looking for Russian River, Hitachino, Saison Dupont, etc. Thanks!

    Chuck,
You might check Stevie's on McArthur or Rockwell up around 122nd. He does have a good selection but I don't know if he has what you are looking for.

There's a store, I think it's a Cellar too, on NW Expressway and Rockwell that does the same thing.

I have never seen Russian River in Oklahoma, and it isn't for lack of trying. Bear in mind that many breweries simply will not do business in Oklahoma because our laws are a tremendous inconvenience. The selection on offer in our better liquor stores represents just about everything we can get here at the present, sadly.

You might try Grand Cru on the SW corner of Britton/May.

Russian River can be hard to find in San Francisco so I'm not really expecting to find it here. I'm sure there's a store that has a better selection than the norm.

That's probably because it's not available here. This link shows every outlet where it's sold. Just click on the state and it shows each retail location. The nearest place will be in Colorado.

A couple of months ago it did close. The windows were all covered in brown paper. But it reopened after a few days.

Corkscrew in Norman has some great staffers who like beer and are willing to order anything that they can if you ask. They stocked some Dogzilla for me recently.

I always thought Byrons had a pretty good selection of beers. I've also found a good selection of micro brewery beers at Sooner Wine and Spirits in Norman.

Grand Cru at Britton and N May, is the same as The Cellar. They just had to change the name.....something to do with the Oklahoma Liquor laws.

They do carry a very large selection of beer, and singles on all they carry as well.

Won't find Russian River or many of the others in this state. All stores could carry the same thing, in other words, mom n pop can carry same thing as Broadway Wine (my favorite). David is great they are friendly etc. Our laws and the way the wholesalers do business in this state are our issue. We need better brokers that are willing to bring in some of the smaller breweries, but alas that won't happen. Much has to change in our laws before we see any improvement in distribution. In the mean time don't dismiss some of our great local breweries such as COOP who has put out some solid beers, Plus DNR is in the bottle on the shelves. Marshall just released a great Pale, and Choc is coming out with some funky sour, which is a welcome to our state.

Okay anyone know where I can find Moose Drool beer made by a small company in Montana here in OK? or and more importantly to me anything made by Stone Breweries in CA.

I see Moose Drool here and there...Lately spotted it at the liquor store at 122nd and Rockwell, Cellars at NW Expwy and Rockwell and the one next to Subway at 19th in Moore across from Walmart normally has it...Love that beer but it is certainly not for everyone

The Cellar should have most of the Big Sky offerings. As mentioned above the coolest thing about the Cellar is everything they carry they offer in singles. They also claim to carry everything available in OKC. Another good store I have found is the little place on 50th and May, just east of the Walgreens, As for the Stone Brews, not here. There are lots of great beers we just don't get for the reasons mentioned above, even though a lot of them pass throuhg here o the way to other destinations.

Today I stopped by Saints, and the have Moose Drool in a bottle. I doubt they would mind telling you where to get it.
