Looking at Sid's pic that he posted on July 3rd, it looks like, beyond this week, there's still four rows of glass windows to be built on top of this week's current "under construction" floor. I think this floor (this week) is the last to be done in concrete and the rest will be done with steel beams. Can't believe it's almost topped out!
I wonder if they'll stick a tree up there when it's topped out?
The roof of which building?I'm at Sheridan & Hudson across from the Auditorium. The last thing I expected to see were sprinklers going on the roof. The kind that spray about ten streams straight up and go up and down. Any ideas?
If you mean the auditorium or garden wing, they are probably installing a green roof (with plants) as part of the LEED certification.
Water testing the waterproofing on the auditorium roof.
You can't see it in the photo, but there were at least two oscillating...
(like these)
...sprinklers on the roof of the Auditorium.
I just looked out the window of my office and didn't see any sprinklers. Just a fat guy working on the ridge of the roof of the auditorium.
I think the retail mix there could be an indicator of sorts of what is going to be happening across Hudson in the future.
From Fox25 about a half hour or so ago.http://www.okcfox.com/newsroom/top_s...vid_3664.shtml
Wow, so they are now saying first employees may move in as early as October... That's only three months away!
They must plan to have the rotunda and lobby and a few of the lower floors completely done by then.

So there aren't plans to cover up the concrete columns on the exterior of the bottom portion of the tower, right? The renderings make it seem as if they'll stay as is, but the lack of polish on them makes it seem as if there is still something waiting to cover them up.
Yeah, the columns get a shiny covering.
Here's some more renderings that have been around for quite a while.
Did anyone happen to get a picture of the tower reflecting that awesome sunrise this morning?
I'm normally out doing video now... but it looks really overcast to me. I got up too late and didn't set a clock. I was out yesterday for about six hours. Still, even then if you do time lapse you get very little video sometimes. It was a bit too cloudy yesterday. For some reason the buildings downtown were shielded by clouds while everywhere else was in bright sunlight. I was in Midtown quite a bit, just waiting. I still got some good stuff. All that time and effort, and you might only get one really good shot.
UnFrSaKn, are you interested in taking us for tour on your video trips? I'd like to tag along to do some vidoes with my Samsung Epic and only you know the awesome spots.
Driving home just now I saw the awesome reflection of the sunset. It looked similar to the picture on the map that UnFrSaKn posted; gradient from blue to yellow to orange to red. It was an awesome sight indeed.
Plus the other buildings downtown were in the same light. So unlike the map picture, all the buildings were matching with the same light being cast on them.
Checked out the area where the Devon Tower/Colcord connection is supposed to go today. There's an exit area that seems to come off the 6-story garden wing, or whatever it's called, and then a wood fence covering something between DT and Colcord that seems to be where any tunnel, or above-ground connection is going. You can't see the entry point on the Colcord. I think I'm looking at it right (view image by itself for larger view):
Oh, and the area in front of the Colcord is CHAOS. The hotel entry is on the SW corner right now and it's right next to all the construction...nasty setup.
found out a little bit about the big restaurant that is going in the garden wing building ....
from what i was told it will be lunch only and be able to serve 2,000 people a day will be very high quality
with 2 big stone pizza ovens a huge salad bar where you will fill a plate and pay by the ounce. a "healthy" food line and a normal burger/sandwich line.
Comment on another fourum regarding the Devon Energy Center:
im sure it looks nice from far away. but big deal. that site plan and building orientation leaves little to be desired. might as well be in the 'burbs. seems we never learn how to make a quality urban environment. you certainly dont get there by buildings things that only look good a mile away.

^^Know what really bugs me?If these people had this tower in their city they would be doing backflips!
Don't get too worked up about it. We'd probably be criticizing it if it were being built in Tulsa or Dallas. We aren't exactly the greatest on being consistent. Glad we have it here. But at the same time let's let others form their own opinion, we don't have to parade around defending it. It defends itself to those that actually matter, not the people on internet forums who are overly emotional.
