Haha. We're a "lost city". Thanks for the heads up.
saw them in tulsa last fall and it was so great. too bad they're playing the events center...
Awesome. Not the Pixies, but another band with OKC roots
that's something kim deal said when they played tulsa, that they couldn't believe they'd never played oklahoma until now. she was surprised they never at least played norman...
I haven't seen anything at BEC since The Strokes in like 2003 or 2004. What's with the prompt for the password though? I'd like to get in on that pre-sale.
Disregard that, it seems that they were just doing site maintenance. On the list and awaiting instructions!
Maybe the fact that we are a Lost City is why I've never heard of this band. LOL
You may not have heard of them, but if you have heard any rock recorded in the 90s, you've heard their influence.Maybe the fact that we are a Lost City is why I've never heard of this band. LOL
Personally, I think the BEC is the perfect venue in which to see the pixies.
civic center. or lloyd noble half-house.
when i saw them at the brady in tulsa last fall, it was a great place to see them - no jostling for position, no sweaty hot people pushing you around trying to get up front...
there's some bands i don't mind seeing in a general admission setting, but i think someone like the pixies will tend to bring out the rude pushers/shovers/moshers...
and the sound now is better than it has been at the events center, but there's still bad sound at the back half.
If you ask most sound engineers/music enthusiast/frequent concert goer, they'll tell you how terrible the acoustics are in the BEC. It's a great venue in that it's a decent size, very clean, and in a great location but the truth is, OKC lacks the medium-sized venue like the Pallidum, House of Blues, and the Verizon Theatre in the DFW area.
So, anyone else make it? Thoughts?
Well... I thought they were pretty awesome. I saw them in 2004 before I really knew them and was instantly a fan, so I can hardly say I have an objective opinion. Hearing Doolittle the whole way through was pretty cool, though I wish they would have played some more from Bossanova or Trompe le Monde. (I would have traded the Wave of Mutilation b-side and Where Is My Mind for Velouria or Dig for Fire and Letter to Memphis; heresy, I know...)
On a side note, the BEC is not a massive as I remember it being as a high school student. In my memory that place was enormous.
