Albuquerque's skyline is so impressive that the television show "In Plain Sight" which is supposed to be located there used shots of Denver's skyline for the skyline shots last season.

Albuquerque DT is a lot more modern although the bldgs are smaller. An honest broker will have to agree DT OKC even w/ the new tower is not that exciting. Old bldgs and it appears out of balance esp with the new tower. DT could use a couple high rise hotels even ABQ has those

    RodH:
Maybe so, but when was the last (first) time OKC skyline was used for anything? and we are supposed to be a big league city

Hmm... Oh I don't know, the NBA?

there was also a Ford commercial that used OKC's 'old' skyline - I think it was for Ford Focus or the next car up. Also, didn't the TNT show, Saving Grace, use OKC's skyline? The skyline has also been in movies.

Im sorry, but Ive been to ABQ many times and they DONT have a downtown skyline. NWX is head over heals better than anything in ABQ. What highrise hotel are you talking about?

Isn't OKC's Renaissance Hotel and Sheraton hotel considered highrises (15 floors)? Same for the Colcord and Skirvin at 15 floors?
Also, OKC has a highrise Marriott, Country Suites (or whatever its called) and a few others that are more than 12 floors?

OKC's downtown doesn't often look good from far away because of OKC's topography, which ABQ does have a leg up. But the last time I drove through ABQ I did not even see a downtown skyline let alone a highrise until I was less than 2 miles away, coming downhill into it. That skyline is better than OKC's? which can be seen for miles, even pre-Devon????
    Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!

Albuquerque is my second home. Mom is from there and I lived there for seven years. The tallest building is the Bank of America Tower built in 1990 along with the Hyatt hotel. This building is not much taller than the Valliance Bank building on NW Expressway. The poster must be confusing the Sandia Mountains with buildings. High altitude (or other things that can get you high) can do that to a person's perception. As far as OKC's skyline 'being used in anything', check out the movie Defending Your Life with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep. Downtown is used as the skyline for 'Judgement City' with a little air brushing done to it. Great movie too!

Bringing Up Bobby (new flick to be released seoon)
    Saving Grace

    Continue the Renaissance!!!

Only someone from Albuquerque would promote their skyline over OKC. OKC isn't a world beater, but let's be honest. Alb is known for its great Mexican food and Native American heritage, not for its buildings.

several more large skyscrappers are in the works for okc, they will be announcing them soon? I read this on skyscrapper city by hot rod, how true is this does anyone know?

Albuquerque's tallest building is 22 floors! They only have nine buildings of 10 or more floors.

Great town but even the skyline on NW Expressway is way more impressive than their downtown.

Simply expressed my thoughts that pictures posted on here made the tower appear so much taller than Chase, but to me when driving close by, it just did not look that much taller. Maybe it was because of I-40 and I-235 being too close to the tower. Today, I was driving down on Reno and I see the tower being much taller. I guess it just differentiate between different locations. Also, with the glass not all the way complete, it can alter the height perception. Pete mentioned about 125ft to go (not sure how tall that is) and it seems to be a whole lot more to me. Really excited for it all to finally be finished and all glass to the max top.

There is still like a year (?) to go, because the wiring and all interior work takes a whole lot longer than the skeleton and glass.

So cute! I used to have a couple of those Troll dolls. They are the good kind. I can try to find a good picture of one and use it as my avi for a while. :-)

I have a daughter who lives in Albq. and she just told me about three weeks ago while visiting OKC that our downtown looked much more like a big city skyline than Albq. She stated that Albq. didn't have much of a skyline! Somebody needs their eyes examined!

Spent hours this morning doing more time lapse. You literally have to work all day to get maybe 5 min worth.

Could someone in the know, who works at Devon, or is a construction worker let me know when the crane is raised for the last time?

Albuquerque...like Salt Lake City have one nice aspect of their city...when you approach them at night and come over the ridges that lead you into the "valleys" they are located in--the spread of lights is impressive. Not unlike driving on Mulholland Highway at night along the Santa Monica Mountains between the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles. Lived in Sherman Oaks for many years and did that often. A wonderful sight--especially after Santa Ana Winds in the fall clear out all the smog and the lights can be seen for great distances...

Okay guys, here are a couple of photos from today.

In the first, you can see that the most recent level (the 47th) is taller than the ones below it. There should be three more of these taller floors and then the crown.

William, I know you are working away on another video but do you have any images of the rotunda? Would really like to see how that is progressing.

Also, have you noticed if they have started working on the connection to the Skirvin?

It's also easier to spot UFOs over Albuquerque than OKC. At least that's been my experience.

Yes, I want to do Rotunda progress, as I had a cool idea in mind. However, it's either 90 degress when I get off work to go down there, or that side of the tower is in shadow. For some reason they're putting up glass in odd sections instead of row by row. I'd have to camp out there every day after work (which I'm considering). I have a few more shots I want to get in time lapse then I'll be done for this month. I will likely go back and repeat the same place on multiple days until I get what I want.

Colcord? I was right in front of it earlier, and they're digging a huge hole between the two buildings. A construction truck pulled up and blocked my view along the fence and I went off to do other shots. I still had to finish what I want for a Bricktown video so I didn't stick around. That's mostly what I ended up doing today. I'm editing the RetroMetroOKC meeting that includes the railway exhibit in the Miller-Jackson basement (canal level) and went back today for follow-up video. I spent most of the time chatting and meeting new people Monday night of the meeting. First time I met Doug and second time talking with Steve.

When you see the diagrams of the taller buildings in our city, it really makes me wish that Valliance Bank tower and Founders tower were located in the CBD. That would add some real variety to the downtown area. I have always really liked Valliance tower. It just has a great and clean aesthetic about it that is pleasing to me. The structure is delineated and it appears. I would love to see something similar maybe scaled up a bit. I really hope for some additional tower projects in the near future. But there is no doubt that we are getting a game changer in this fantastic Devon tower!
