Thread: Devon Energy Center

  1. Default Re: Devon Energy Center (Devon Tower)

I want someone to FOI the 911 call and post it.

"Uhhhh, this is security down at the Devon Tower and uhhhhh, these two dudes just walked by and started heading up the stairs. Uhhhhhh, I'm pretty sure they had parachutes on. Uhhhhhhh, I yelled 'stop' but they didn't."

Aren't they on 24 hour work shifts?

Yea, I thought the tower had workers 24/7 since its a little closer to completion.

The article I read said police reported them going up on the elevator.

You maybe right. I don't know if Sunday is a down day or not.

They probably figured there would be fewer workers on an Easter Sunday. Plus, if you act confident enough its amazing the places you can get into.

Pete, from what I heard, the only crime was trespassing. OKC has no law against basejumping.

You are so correct. I have gotten into more places than I can count, that I had not right to enter, by just acting confident, and looking like I knew what I was doing, and looking like I belonged. I would almost guess that with as many people as are working there, a guy with a hardhat and a tool belt could get just about anywhere.

I hope I get on the jury if they go to trial

metro, I just got back from the masters two weeks ago and I find that extremely hard to believe. especially if you didn't have a badge since you have to go through all sorts of security and scanners. you have a better chance of sneaking onto an airplane

Believe what you want, but it's true. I even have a souvenir pin to prove it.

When I lived at Sycamore Square in downtown OKC (and was much younger broke) I got into performance next door at the Civic Center several times by myself (acting in a hurry and with purpose) and with a female friend (we'd fake an argument as we passed the little old lady taking tickets). I've also found that when I get out my larger format camera and put it on my shoulder I can get into most places without question.

I get confused for a band member when I go to concerts... The camera thing will work.. or get you kicked off public property like me.

I'm actually all for this type of thrill seeker - EXCEPT when their hobby puts others in direct risk (which these guys did).

I went downtown Saturday afternoon to take pics and was surprised how close I could get to the building. From the intersection of Park & Harvey, you can walk south and get close enuf to nearly touch the building. I was taking pics in a little parking lot behind the Colcord and could look straight up at the crane operator...if he/she spit out the window, I would've had to wipe my camera lens.

It was overcast Saturday, but still bright...made for some awesome b&w shots.

This is to the guy posting from Portland, OR. Look, I'm from Denver, and so I guess I can't very well be the OKC Avenger, but I'm so sick of hearing about Portland, that I have to chime in here. "Oh, it's well planned, and we have light-rail." Well, whoopie for you, Portland. When we are all in our graves, the Devon Tower will be taller than anything in Portland. There is only one thing they hate more than people in Portland, and that is businesses. I'd take OKC any day of the week, over stagnant, full of homeless, drug infested, terrible weather Portland. Most overrated city in the U.S. They only rail on other cities like OKC, because they know that they will never be in the same league, themselves, as a Seattle, or a San Francisco. People in OKC are about 10,000 nicer, as well. Portland, Oregon sucks. Enjoy it, though, buddy.

Hell, Portland can't even hold Denver's jockstrap. What, they have one terrible sports team? Wow, I'm awed by you, Portlandia.

No, not quite the tallest building in the state.

Should reach that mark in about another month... Currently 41 levels completed and 45 complete would likely do it.

I sure was thinking the floor they just finished was the 43rd.

They said the two guys jumped from the 36th floor, which I thought was the lowest one without glass. I looked at the cam and counted up from there. Idk...

We need some new photos to know for sure, as there is no point of reference on our webcam.
