Thread: Bricktown Brewery

I wish they'd do something a little less traditional than Jimmy's Egg. Chicago has some great breakfast restaurants. Milk and Honey is one of my favorites, and Yolk is another decent one. I was thinking of suggesting something like that for the LEVEL restaurant.

Was thinking more about it, and honestly, Jimmy's Egg has better food that the Brewery (and so cheap!).
What I was thinking...Their beer isn't that great and their food isn't good enough to want to go there any more...the upstairs is what made the brewery as far as I am concerned

I would absolutely kill for a chicken fried steak and an omelet from Jimmy's Egg right now. It's not going to be my first meal back on American soil or anything, but it is up there.

The Brewery's menu however is even loss notable than Swedish food, except for meatballs at IKEA of course :-)

Some of the same people that used to own the bricktown brewry also own jimmy's egg, so I imagine it was just shifting ownership around a little. Sounds like someone wanted out.

I am sure these new owners will do what all Bricktown property owners do. Buy a property, start their squatting for a year or two, list it with a realtor, try to make a profit.

Bricktown is so predictable these days.

When will Bricktown offer up something that is shocking and surprising?

The ACM was the last big shocking surprising news for Bricktown, and that has been over 2 years ago.

Read my above post. That isn't likely to happen. Several of the investors that own jimmy's egg also had an interest in the brewery before the sale. So this really isn't that big of story.

Well, it was shocking when the Brewer brothers actually got some new tenants for the space opposite of Maker's. Or the space formerly known as Maker's. Also the space opposite where Bourbon Street is going out of business I believe. Or the space opposite where... ah nevermind. lol

Gee there is an OKC-based restaurant that stepped up and invested in the ol' hometown and people would rather see something from out-of-state instead.

A Jimmy's egg would be fine with me in Bricktown.

    Keep OKC money in OKC!!!

No, the restaurants I referenced aren't chains. My suggestion wasn't that a restaurant from Chicago open here, but rather that a local restauranteur come up with a breakfast concept that's a little more unique than Jimmy's Egg. I think it would do very well. That's all.

    OK I understand now.

They could open up a jimmy's egg with fancier fixtures.

No, they could open up a restaurant with a more interesting menu. Decor is not so important to me.

Has there been an announcement regarding the opening of a Jimmy's Egg? As far as I can tell, the Brewery ownership group was shuffled a little, but nothing more. Is the Brewery closing?

You guys are doing a great job of making Bricktown restaurants look quite boring!

Keep reminding me why I never visit Bricktown anymore, Thanks.

I have been to a Jimmy's Egg only one time and it was shortly after they opened the one at 16th and North May. We sat at a counter like in a diner and watched the cooks prepare meals and watched the cockroaches roaming over the bread that was supposedly homemade.

Man, we do have a lot of debbie downers on Bricktown restaurants on here! Although I do believe that the best food is in Lower Bricktown. I for one hope that the Bricktown Brewery does not close. I love the come and go stand around atmosphere that the upstairs of the Brewery Brings. Which poses this question: Why has Bricktown not utilized much of its upper floors on its buildings for business, or maybe I am just speaking of the Spaghetti Warehouse building..?

Keep in mind that's on Santa Monica Blvd in LA. Normal prices for that area.

Jimmy's Egg. Last time I was in OKC, I went to the one on Macarthur, NW Expressway (just north of there) --- pitiful --- the only decent thing was the coffee, and I'm not all that picky. Spoiled ingredients for the omelet... which itself tasted like a 3 day old catfish fry, it all was sick. I paid for the coffee.
