Default Sports in moore and the crazy cost

I dont understand it, my son is 4 years old and started t-ball, they are saying they have a 3 week long pre-season tournament, it started last week. Every time my son has a game which is on different days i believe a total of 7 days, fpr this so called tournament we have to pay 5 dollars each adult to get in no matter what, he only has one game a day some days like last night and we have to pay ea time.. where is this money going, i already paid season fees, the tournament is a free tournament for 4 year olds, we have paid umpire fees, etc.. where is this money going since more taxes us on our parks and rec as it is???? 7 times two adults 5 dollar ea is $70.00 and thats for one tournament, my daughters tournament starts next weekend.. my god where is all the money going!!!!!!

Hate to say it Jess, its like that anywhere you go these days! You think its bad in Moore or the OKC area? Try moving down to the DFW area! The prices to put your kid in any sports league/admission to the ball fields is crazy. This is just a part of the equation to maintaining fields and keeping the lights on!

you might be right, i just think its odd to stretch a tournament out this long and have a game a day, it seems to be cheating people that way, dont know why they could have it 3 days fri sat and sun andhave 2-4 games a day (s o you only get charged 3 times)instead of having to pay ea day for one game for almost 3 weeks... doesnt make sense, but to people wanting to make tons of money i guess it does

My son is 3 and is playing wee-ball this year in Moore. We had one game last week and then his last 4 preseason games are being played this Saturday and Sunday, two games each day. So we are paying $15 per adult to get in. However, once the regular season starts there is no admission fee, unlike places like Davis Park. I'd rather pay to get into the tournaments than have to pay to get in for every regular season game.

As far as where the money goes, I was a small part of the league management several years ago. I'll tell you that the league does a great job of using money from league fees, tournaments, concession sales, etc. to make tremendous improvements to the park. If this is the first year you've been out there (I've been going to, coaching, umpiring, etc. for about 20 years) then just enjoy the experience of your kid(s) playing ball out there, as long as the kids are having fun it's worth every penny you spend.....

your kid plays weeball, my son does too, what team, my son plays for team chaos? he plays 3 games this weekend.. I jsuthink its pricey thts all, my daughter plays softball, and she has never had a tournament that was like the boys side, theres last 3 days tops and they play mulitple games ea day of the tournament unlike the boys it seems for the per-season.

Maybe corporate sponsers would be a better way to go.

My 4 y.o. plays all his sports through the Y. We have a family membership which runs about $58 a month, but all the youth sports are free with only cost being the $12 for the jersey which is good for multiple sports. I was huge into to youth sports growing up including competitive and select teams, and the idea of a 4 y.o. tball tourney is just laughable to me. I think I'll get my boy into the competitive stuff when he is 7 or 8 when it actually starts to matter, everything up to that point is just money flowing into other people's pockets.

Jess, my son plays for the Rangers.......and the preseason tournament is the only one like this throughout the season. The other tournaments will be 2 or 3 days long.

kb, there is nothing competitive at all in weeball. Each team bats all through the order each inning, everybody plays in the field no matter how many players are on the team and there is no score kept. Also, everybody swings at the ball on the tee until they get a hit. The goal is to teach the kids very basic fundamentals and for them to have a great time playing ball. I know in my case, we have a 13 year old that plays in Moore also and my 3 year old would beg to be able to play ball. This is a tourney in name only.......it's all just for fun.

You can buy a season tournament pass ($40) good for all tournaments that year. MYBA has offered this every year my son has played.

yeah, if the rangers play chaos you will be able to spot my son, he is the one that throws his glove and hat and quits 3-5 times during the game, and he hits the ball and tries to catch his own hits lol, he loves playing the sport, but he is the only one that wants to catch the ball, if he doesnt he gets mad and quits for a couple minutes. Im still trying to work with him on that and the meanign of team.
