Yes I know there are mid rise buildings all along there, but so is the Cox Center and the Century Center, these are the super blocks. My question was, regarding if the Cox Center were to add a high rise convention center attached hotel.
That gap has The Santa Fe parking garage,Cox cntr.,Sheraton,mid/highrises!actually there is no gap but as far as skyscrapers yea it's plain as day!

Just wait until Devon is done. It still has over 300 feet to go. It will be twice as tall as the three building right next to it (FNC, City Place, Oklahoma). Take the distance from the top of the building to the top of the cranes and add that to the top of the cranes. That is how high it will be when it is done. The only way Devon won't dwarf all of downtown is if the picture is taken straight down.

Coming out of the Ford Center (It's going to stay the Ford to me until it gets a new sponsor) tonight after the game, the tower was all lit up and looked incredibly beautiful, even unfinished. I can only imagine how impressive it's going to be at night when it's done.

They lit up the colors on the windows?

Thunder, I don't want to speak for Betts, but I suspect what she meant was that the tower floors were lit up as they normally have been at nighttime. I don't think the ornamental exterior lighting was in use.

Yes, the tower was not lit the way you want it to be lit. She meant the interior lighting shining through the windows. It was a great game Betts!!

Yes, I did simply mean that all the floors were lit with white lighting. Still, it was beautfiul. I saw a lot of people looking at it and talking about it.....probably a lot of people who go to Thunder games aren't downtown that much otherwise. It's a completely different vantage point coming out of the Ford Center, even for me who sees the Devon Tower every day and night, and very impressive.

I didnt say it wouldnt dwarf everything in that angle just that it would look more balanced in that view!

In case anyone hasn't noticed, they've started putting the glass panels on the adjacent structure in front of the parking garage. I'll be out there Wed or Thurs.

yeah, I noticed that too. I took a bunch of Devon and other pics today. Uploaded most of the other topics, but probably won't get to Devon and Sandridge until tomorrow.

They've also added something to the rotunda, or a part of the construction. Can't make out what it is on the webcam.

Anyone catch this? Just found it on a Google search. From four days ago.

    Construction continues

    Devon tower tops OKC skyline

As company celebrates 40th birthday, Devon Energy's tower becomes OKC's tallest structure

Devon Energy Celebrates 40 Years, Reaches New Heights

Work has reached a critical stage. Crews are now focused on tapering in the top of the tower. Construction has to be precise to get the structure right.

"At the very top of the building, we'll have about a nine-feet distances from where the curtain wall started to where it's canted in from the top, which makes it a very elegant appearance in the skyline," Construction Manager Shannon Fetz said.

    [QUOTE=UnFrSaKn;412603]Devon tower tops OKC skyline

"The building's top two floors will be open to the public as a restaurant and banquet facility, Nichols said."

Did we know this already? I thought the top floors were simply executive boardrooms.

Some interesting quotes from that Tulsa World article:

Nichols said it's possible that Devon employees - now spread out in five downtown buildings - could begin moving into the tower's lower floors by the end of this year
And this is absolutely new and exciting news:

The building's top two floors will be open to the public as a restaurant and banquet facility, Nichols said.

First time I've ever heard about the restaurant and banquet facility. I thought I'd never get past the front desk at the rotunda but I look forward to dining at 50 floors up.

Devon had said before that the tower would not be open to the public.

    This obviously changed. Fantastic news.

I want a VIP Pass when it opens up, so I can complete the video series... I'd also like to don a hard hat and get up top if I could do it.

What kind of restaurant? Can anyone just go there or does it have to be a reserved large parties?

Why the top two floors? The top floors should be reserved for highest bosses/executives.

The hiring of the former Skirvin manager to run their food services makes even more sense now.

Perhaps they'll own and operate the restaurant and banquet facilities themselves. They are doing that at the Colcord now and will no doubt have employee cafeterias as well as restaurant open to the public in the garden wing.

I hope it's more that type of situation than the private club model at the Petroleum Club at the top of Chase.
