I recognize a couple of people in that group. How often do they (you?) do a rally and what's a typical event? Looks like there was a trip to Pops.

Thumbs up Re: OKC Exotic Cars

This is basically a car club/group with no membership dues. They have about two rallys per year. Their website highlights these events with pictures and other info. This group also has a special interest in racing these exotic cars at commercial race ways. I have not participated in one of these events yet, however, they are planning a rally in Oct. and I'm planning on breaking out my lambo for this one. This group is not exclusive to exotics, but also welcomes other high end cars such as benz, BMW, porsche, corvettes, audi etc...

Never posted on this site before, but I thought this would be an appropriate instance.

I was driving to work yesterday and I turn right at Broadway and 13th Street by the Mercedes dealership. As I was turning right, I saw two guys driving the most exotic Mercedes I have ever seen. It was like a gunmetal grey, I think. I got to the office and looked it up online, and I think it is an SMS AMG, which a 2011 sells for upper $100,000s to $200,000. I am by no means an afficionado on cars in the slightest, but I can spot an exotic car. I was wondering if anyone had seen this car also and would know what it was. My first thought was that a Thunder player bought it and had it delivered to the dealership and the dealers were taking it to "fill it up with gas."

Sorry, that last post should say an SLS AMG, not an SMS AMG.

I believe you are talking about this Mercedes SLR McLaren. Oh and try the price $450,000 -$550,000 IF you can find one.

I'm pretty sure it belongs to the owner of AllStar Motors in Edmond. They are a Mercedes Repair Shop.

The Mercedes dealer downtown/midtown whatever – had a SLS AMG on the showroom floor briefly a few weeks back….. I usually make a drag around the city and run by there to see if they have anything ‘interesting’……they’ve had at least one Maybach several years ago on the floor that was cool to get a peak at up close when those were fairly new. Still never seen one on the road in OK.

Personally, before say’98, I don’t at the moment remember having seen any Lamborghinis in OK…..then I spotted a purple Diablo convertible on Memorial after leaving a friend’s house in Edmond – then not long after a Gallardo off Broadway extension heading toward Edmond…..

Since then I’ve seen a number of Gallardos around town. Only one Murcielago in OK in my entire life – an orange one at Republic a week or two ago.

Some young guy got a Bentley GT this summer and I was on my scooter and cracked the pipes just a bit before the light changed and he romped on his Bentley pretty hard, but I managed to hold him off to the next light. Surprising. He said he let off of it, but only really because the next light was red. If he had any more room he would have eaten my lunch for sure…..my bike isn’t very fast at all.

It’s really lame that there are so few nice rides to see around the city. Sure, there are more and more all the time, but it’s still pretty bleak if you like to see nice cars around.

There is an Aston Martin – I think V8 Vantage that somebody who works at the orthopedic center on Independence and 50th? That I see everyday going to and from work…… I’ve seen a few around town – even spotted a Vanquish rollin’ down 44

Some short red haired lady owns an Audi R8 that works in a building next to me too…….

I was in Dallas a few weeks ago just for the day and stopped by Ginger Man – then made a run by Zaza to see what rides were in the front….a trick Audi and a Ferrari 360 I think, but as I pulled back on that main road a black Bugatti Veyron came rollin’ down the street toward me…..AWESOME! Six hours in Dallas and I see a freakin’ Bugatti Veyron!

Apparently Maserati’s are becoming really popular…..saw a bunch of them in Dallas that day…..

I've seen several Maybach's around town. I saw some fancy Audi yesterday at Casady Square on Britton & Penn. I've seen some of the Maserati's around town here as well. They've made a comeback the last 10 years or so. I remember seeing them en masse in Miami Beach about 10 years ago. Want to see exotics, go to South Beach or anywhere in Miami, TONS of exotic cars.

Maserati and Alfa Romeo are now run by Ferrari as divisions of Fiat. The Biturbo of the mid-80's was a blast to drive, the little twin turbo V-6 was a pretty good performer and they had some of the nicest interiors.

Apparently John Lopez is displaying some of his vintage car collection at his new Cambridge Suites hotel on Meridian. FYI for those of you who don't know who John Lopez is, he owns Lopez Foods, a large food distribution company (he supplies the beef to McDonalds if that tells you anything). Here is a link to his 985 Ferrari Berlinetta the Journal Record has a nice photo of.

There was a guy at the gas station on memorial and may the other day driving a black Maserati Quattroporte.. Of course the Maserati name is prestigious, but the car looked like crap.. Very clean and well taken care of but also looks cheap at the same time.. Anyone have any personal history with these cars?

The Biturbo's were a lot of fun to drive, quite a bit of power out of the twin-turbo V-6, it's too bad the 36-valve version never made it to production. The Quattroporte was definitely aimed at the luxury market, rode like it as well. Like most cars from the era, they don't age all that well, they need quite a bit of attention but overall can be pretty good cars if taken care of. I would still get a Biturbo if I stumbled across one at a decent price.

As long as the owner knows that in this neighborhood we have an agreement to share the keys to each others ride.

    Welcome to the neighborhood.
